East midlands take on the incident from their twitter account is reproduced below. They have now deleted this twitter entry.

What has happened?​

There is an obstruction on the track near Thetford Station. This is between Ely and Norwich and is disrupting our trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/ Nottingham/ Norwich routes.
Network Rail are going to investigate the problem. Our Maintenance team are also working hard to send an additional team to investigate the problem. We have been given an estimated time for our Maintenance team to arrive in the next 3 hours.
We expect this distribution to last until Wednesday the 7th of February.

The rain has been particularly heavy this evening & gusty winds which I think were forecast to be 40mph plus all afternoon.

From reports I’ve seen, no reported injuries and everyone ok, including driver.

A major incident requiring a Command Structure in place. Major Safety risk. Multi agency response. Major disruption to the network.

East Mids service 1L15 has made a GSMR REC call after striking a substantial object on the Down Thetford Line between Thetford and Harling Road. Driver believes the incident occurred on the approach to Hockham Road Crossing but the Driver is not sure. The Driver has advised that the train has potentially de-railed. The cab screens are smashed. The Driver is shaken but not injured. Norwich and Cambridge MOMs attending (ETA 22:00). BTP and BTP Embedded advised. Off track staff with equipment attending from Attleborough. NOC advised and will notify the RAIB. Outer Ops FSDM made aware.

I would imagine it’s just an RRV access point rather than a full depot but I’m not totally sure

5Z99 is a unit from Norwich to go and collect the customers from the derailed train.

Reportedly just the front bogie off the rails, unsure how far and it would be unwise to make assumptions until further confirmation. Won’t be moving anywhere until BRUFF team get there from either Newport or Wigan depending on which team is sent.

I would say impossible! Line expected to be shut some time into if not all of tomorrow.

Looks like all Greater Anglia trains are cancelled past there tomorrow, at least that's what RTT is showing.
EMR aren't showing as cancelled yet but I think they might have bigger problems right now.

EMR have there own re-railing kit based at Etches Park (Derby).
