EMR - Trainee Train Drivers - Various (Summer/Autumn 2024)

Anyone that’s got through to Norwich, they’re doing the EMR assessment day on 14th November before the OPC testing as they are struggling to get dates from OPC. They’re then hoping to do stage 1 and stage 2 OPC tests in the same day after the EMR assessment day has passed.

Did get offered a driver manager interview as a qualified but had to turn it down as I was on holiday at the time. Awaiting a new date but not hopeful.

Some at St Pancras might be hearing back soon. Completely forgot I Applied for this till todays email and so had to withdraw as I'm no longer Job Hunting. Email basically asks for more patience as they just finalize the Dates for the EMR Specfic Assessement Day. Good Luck all!

Hi, this is my first post on here, I hope this is the right section to put this. I have an interview with EMR, and have to go to their Kettering depot. All it says in the email is that on arrival I am to report to driver depot building, left of front of station. I’ve had a look on google maps and can’t decide where exactly it is I’m supposed to go. There doesn’t look to be anywhere at the station itself. Opposite the station is a building marked as EMR SOP, and at the end of the road is Kettering depot sidings. I’d like to know if I need to park in the public car parks, and which part it is I am supposed to go to.

Is there anyone on here who works there and can shed some light on this for me please.

Thank you! If I didn’t get a reply I was going to head for the depot at the end of the road so you’ve saved me there! I presume parking is just in the public car park at the station?

And thanks, I’m nervous but it’s a job I’ve wanted since I was 6 or 7. Used to sit and watch the 125’s coming and going at Temple Meads.

I’ve just read through more of this thread, were you on the morning or afternoon session of the assessment day? I think they’re 21 of us on the morning session. Then at the end they said they’d let us know soon, but they had another session in the afternoon.

Yeah, I parked in the south car park when I went for mine as it had a lot more spaces available on the day

Yeah I was on the morning session that day and like Amnesiac said I also parked in the south car park bit as well.

Congratulations both! How soon after your interview did you hear? I assume you have both already done the OPC stage 2 previously? As I was told if my interview tomorrow goes ok, the OPC tests are next week.

About 4 working days after and yes I've previously passed the OPC tests.

Well I got through the interview, somehow, from where I was sat it was a complete car crash. I’ve now got to do the stage 2 OPC tests.

Well found out today that I made it through the OPC2. I'm assuming now it'll be onto medical and then a wait to get allocated a course.
Three others through from the day too.

Group assessment
DMI
OPC 2
That's the order EMR have done it so hopefully that's the lot.
Tough process but worth the work and prep.

I've read through all of these links and none of them contain anything much about what to expect on the day. So I think the master thread referred to is elsewhere on the forum...I'll keep searching but I included 'within title' for my original search because dozens of results come back otherwise!

I appreciate it’s a competitive role but it is really frustrating not being able to find any information as to what is covered on the assessment, even just at a really high level, not looking to cheat but not sure if we should be treating it like an interview and doing all the competency based research or if that’s for the next stage.

Just received a message from EMR for St Pancras Trainee Driver....it's a no thanks
