EMT are currently dealing with ongoing engineering works south of Leicester that are leading to a different timetable each weekend. While there are no engineering works going on north of Leicester they are making absolutely no effort to ensure the service on this part of the line is relatively normal leading to a reduction in service levels and large gaps between services (often of up to 2 hours). On one Sunday recently they had no services between Leicester and Sheffield for 2 hours and then 2 in 10 minutes.
While I understand that they have been dealt a tough hand in having to work around thameslink services south of Bedford it is to me unacceptable that they have not made any effort to maintain normal service levels between Leicester and Nottingham and Sheffield despite having spare trains available that could do so.
Does their franchise agreement allow them to only consider journeys to and from London during engineering works?
If not what can be done to force them to provide a more reasonable service level on the parts of the line that remain open, ideally following the same times each week?
