The 1606 London Paddington-Penzance was booked to be a set with a Micro Buffet for a while. I'm not sure if it still is.

Ah ok - last night it was a Micro Buffet set (which had two entertainment coaches and no Coach C), just gone past tonight as a low-density set with full buffet in original 5 STD / 1 Buffet / 2 First config).

Having an HST run to Penzance with a micro buffet isn't good for anyone who wants more than a microwave bacon sandwich or packet of crisps. In fact, I came across a Twitter exchange between Ollie and a passenger complaining that sets with micro-buffets were diagrammed to Penzance.

If FGW had to pay a fine for each service where catering wasn't specified as it was in the timetable, then the situation might change.

The mini buffet sets are still better than some other TOCs offerings!

The mini-buffet has the exact same items for sale as an ordinary buffet. Stock levels would be replenished during a west-country run. If there is a mini-buffet it means more seats are available.

What exactly is your problem with this?

And none of the services booked with micro Buffets to Penzance had a Travelling Chef or Pullman on-board so there was no reduction in catering facilities as a result.

Well if a micro buffet and a non TC or Pullman full buffet, what is the point of most of the full buffets?

You'd probably end up with nothing advertised in that case...
