Engineering works between Newark and Darlington 14-15 October

From the LNER app:

“No late night / early morning LNER service between Newark North Gate and Darlington on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October

“Engineering work is taking place between Newark North Gate and Darlington, closing some lines.
From 22:00 until 10:00, no services are able to operate between Newark North Gate and Darlington.

“A replacement bus service will be in operation.”

That’s a heck of distance for a blockade. Was it one job or a series of works on the line?

Can't answer but when I checked there was a Newcastle-Doncaster nonstop bus among others (but nothing shown further south).

It is testing for the new Electrical Feeder Station at Hambleton, north of Doncaster. There are four Saturday nights of it although two of them are shorter times so are less disruptive to passenger services. The possession limits are Retford to Northallerton and apart from the test train, which I believe will be an LNER 80x, no trains are permitted to run in the affected area.
