HD04 at Holyhead, HD07 at Canton and HD02 at Crewe all planned out tomorrow. HD05 needs a trip to the wheel lathe so that means the 04:54 from Crewe Diagram will be fully swapped out for a unit again.

It looks like the pair of 153s did indeed run all the wqy to Manchester and back again on the 1430. Arriving into Cardiff over 100 minutes late!
They must have paid out a lot of delay repay today.
Certainly an unfortunate day for the Marches!
Now this is going off topic so I’ll keep it brief.
Interestingly I saw that TFW paid out about £1.85m in delay repay ,I believe, last financial year. If anyone knows for sure please feel free to correct. Which Is a lot of money, but even if that was all gained back, it’s only a very small part of their operating Cost soy wouldn’t make a huge difference. But regardless would be better spent on other things. With that it sounded like consideration may be taken to changing it from 15 mins to something longer, possibly 30 mins.
Back to MK4’s, hopefully tomorrow will see just a less disruptive day if nothing else.
HD02 and 67020 allocated to the 06:27 from Manchester again so hopefully its a little more successful than today.

Are mk4s expected on the the 4.35 out of Cardiff in the morning? And hopefully the evening Holyhead?
Yes both those are planned to be Mk4s.

AFAIK it's unlikely before Monday now, so 1W96 would be a unit on Friday to balance.

HD02 hasn't made it off the depot today...
As a result the Crewe start has been cancelled completely with nothing allocated to the diagram. Only 2 sets are wondering about today! HD04 and HD07!

1V91 was not stuck at Shrewsbury. It was further down the line towards Church Stretton and returned to Shrewsbury at about 0945 to dump its passengers.
The first train stuck at Shrewsbury was 1V35 which I was on followed by 1V92.

HD02 was planned on 1V33, not the cancelled 1V31. Unfortunately nothing to replace the “missing” set so the unit for 1V31 which was 197115 was sent out on 1V33 instead with the first Cardiff cancelled with a unit picking up the rest of the diagram ex Canton for the 08:49 back to Manchester.
Lesser of two evils cancelling the 04:54 from Crewe, it’s a very quiet train until at Abergavenny whilst the 06:27 from Manchester is popular with commuters and school kids into Hereford.
67020 has now come off HD02 being replaced by 67012, should be heading out on a test run later.
As no set finishes in Cardiff tonight the whole diagram 1W11/1V37/1W96 tomorrow will be a unit, its now planned to swap HD06 back in on Friday morning out of Holyhead.
On Friday everything is then hoped to run using HD02/04/06/07 with the exception of the 18:55 Cardiff to Manchester which is planned a unit to have 2 sets at Canton and 2 at Crewe for Saturday

I made it onto 1W96 tonight but no catering on HD07. I’m heading back down to Cardiff in the morning so I assume it’ll be the same set so no breakfast for me
@sd0733 if you know which services will be mk4 tomorrow that would be great
It’s a fault in the kitchen which is being looked at on arrival at Holyhead tonight so pending their work you may well be okay for food.

A set (presumably HD02) on the Crewe start
0454 Crewe to Cardiff
0849 Cardiff to Manchester
1230 Manchester to Cardiff
1649 Cardiff to Manchester
HD04 on the early Manchester
0627 Manchester to Cardiff
1249 Cardiff to Manchester
1630 Manchester to Swansea
HD07
0530 Holyhead to Cardiff
1052 Cardiff to Manchester
1430 Manchester to Cardiff
1855 Cardiff to Manchester
No set on Canton to take on the last diagram, the following will be units, it was planned anyway to allow HD06 to re-enter service the following morning:
0435 Cardiff to Manchester
0830 Manchester to Cardiff
1714 Cardiff to Holyhead
If you want an evening one, HD07 or HD02 is your best bet, I'd recommend HD07 again as HD02 hasn't been the most reliable of sets in recent days!
If I am wrong about any of these diagrams please correct me!
No sets in Cardiff tonight explains why I have just seen a 3 car 197 on the 1630 Manchester to Swansea!

I think I will try HD07 again if the kitchen is fixed, it is somewhat of my lucky set. Does anyone know if you can order a meal on the 1430 off Cardiff, or would I have to wait for the 1855?

The 1430 is off Manchester, if you were at Manchester I'd imagine so at some point along the journey, if you're at Cardiff you're waiting for the 1855, hopefully with a chef onboard!

RTT is showing the 6:27 off Manchester as a 2 car 197 at the minute, sounds like it’ll be busy!
Edit: saying that, it isn’t showing on journeycheck yet like the 0434 off Cardiff and it’s return are, so maybe they’re still trying to get HD04 working

Something will have to swap later today too as currently as it stands 5 sets will end at ATC at Crewe which is over capacity. HD04 didn’t come off this morning so is taking up extra space, so HD07 will now finish at Canton after working 1V46. The 18:55 1W65 up to Manchester is now 197116.

Amazing thank you both for the updates, it’s much appreciated. I posted a separate thread in the ticketing sub forum but maybe someone here knows - can you get a railcard discount on the first class upgrades? Brfares shows a reduced price but my guard earlier said you can’t.

Unfortunately no, discounts aren’t available on the upgrades other than child fare
