Seen this unit today at Bristol TM but not in Platform 5 Book. I read it maybe a 158/9 that has been split down to 2 units. anyone shed any light
In which case they retain the 1589xx number, seen a few like that.158749 is a normal 2 car unit, the 3 car units are numbered 158950-158959 but do sometime get cut down to 2 cars.
I think it's more that the unit in question doesn't exist or belong to FGW according to some sources.
It's composed of the carriages 57749+52749
If the two cars from 748 have replaced the two cars from 749, then that begs the question of what has gone into 952 and 953...
158 952 is supposed to be 57748 / 52762 / 57762
158 953 is supposed to be 52748 / 52750 / 57750
158 956 is supposed to be 57749 / 52768 / 57768
158 957 is supposed to be 52749 / 52771 / 57771
sorry i seem to caused quite a debate.
sorry i seem to caused quite a debate. I had number 158749 written down after it was ay bristol, went through the platform 5 book to see if I had seen it and nowhere to be seen but one coach from it I had been on the 158/9 a few weeks back and not the other one. caused a little bit of debate on the 1739 67's back from patchway
