First group vaccancies often go quickly. So I advise people to complete the application the moment you visibly see it, rather than later as it's most certainly always gone when you look again.

I would change that from first group vacancies to read any trainee driver vacancies. Pretty much most get huge responses and close early and it's been advised on this forum many times. So always be ready to put in an application and maybe a cv and never put it off.

Ih definitely but from recent times, first group vaccancies have often closed in mere hours. We've had the SWR ones for Waterloo Farnham etc all go in the space of 4-6hrs of posting.

Agreed one should not procrastinate however on any application they see with trainee driver roles as they can go just as quickly.

The irony being that a candidate who has access to their phone, laptop or tablet (during their working day) will be able to get an application in while those who work in industries where they can't have their devices in posession (transferable attribute) possibly won't see the advert at all.

I agree I first saw listing just yesterday evening - even thought I’ll get this application in asap. Earliest I could do was first thing this morning and discovered it already closed. Oh well nothing I could do about this one. - I noticed the end date was 8th Nov on the advert and it only went live over weekend so I even thought I’d be ok if they did close it early. ‍♂️ More job alerts added and will hopefully be sharper for the next one.

Yeah I noticed the qualified one is still open until the 8th Nov. Just the trainee one closed super early. I guess they’re getting such a high volume of applicants for the trainee ones.

Hi, new here.
I've managed to apply in time for this role (seems like I'm one of the lucky ones). First time trying to enter this field (currently an HGV driver and formerly a teacher so random mix of previous work experience!).

The rate of £39k mentioned, is that upon completion of the training? Or is that during? It seems a lot higher than other training salaries I've seen advertised if the former, and there's no other salary mentioned if the latter.

Any advice or information regarding the recruitment process would be greatly appreciated by those in the know.

Thank you,
Mike

That's a fantastic starting salary then!

Do you have any idea how long the wait between applying and receiving an interview usually takes? I've heard varying time periods of between 18 weeks and 6 months.

I've not heard anything since application and online tests 29/10/24.
Your application for Trainee Driver is currently with the hiring manager for review.

Depending on the volume of applications it may take some time to complete the shortlisting. Please be patient and as soon as we have an update we will contact you by email to advise you.

Just have to wait it out. Sadly, my current fixed-term contract finished end of Jan, so looking for other work now. Will be really disappointed if have to start another fixed term contract and they progress my application Jan or Feb.
Is just the nature of railway recruitment.

I got a rejection from Hull Trains this morning, so they've progressed through some of the applications. Good luck to those who get progressed to the next stage.

Hi,
Good luck with your interview.
Does anyone know which psychommetric tests that Hull Trains use if you pass the interview stage?

Thank you

Hi, I am lucky enough to have been given an interview. Any tips for the internal interview with Hull Trains?

That's brilliant, well done!
This will be my first time sitting the psychometric tests so I'm researching what is involved. Have you done them before?

Is there anyone else attending psychometric testing at the end of Feb?
