Unfortunately, I can't be quite as exciting as that @GRALISTAIR , how did that come about, if you don't mind me enquiring?
A few decades ago, American Airlines invented the Frequent Flier mile. I moved to the USA in early 2001 and before that travelled on business. My UK home airport is Manchester. My mother is still alive and our family mainly live in the Northwest, some in Milton Keynes and some in Galway Ireland with my wife's family being even more widespread. Long story short - I travel a lot.

I have Diamond Medallion status with Delta Airlines.

Delta is a business and like any business tends to look after its best customers.
I joined the website forum - FlyerTalk many years ago and learned tricks.

Delta started using Porsches to transfer some of its best customers at its hubs. (There is no way it is completely random, but of course it is a highly kept secret on what metrics they use.)
United Airlines uses Mercedes cars to do the same at its hubs and American Airlines uses Cadillacs at theirs.

So long story short, was my pickup random? I doubt it. It was also totally unexpected by me. Do I know why it was on this particular occasion - also no sorry.

Absolutely lovely cabin on the 350 - and the non Schengen lounges at Helsinki are super. Do you have the status to enter the Platinum Wing?

I flew EDI to NQY the other day for £13.69, the bus to Edinburgh Airport was more expensive than the flight. Very handy flight but only operates twice a week for the summer. Downside of such a small airport was missing the hourly bus number 56 into Newquay.

Speaking of nice lounges, Delta have opened their newest flagship lounge at JFK.

Delta is ready to welcome guests to its newest and most exclusive destination: The Delta One Lounge at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Located between Concourses A and B in Terminal 4, adjacent to the main security checkpoint, the sweeping 39,000-plus-square-foot Delta One Lounge – the first of its kind, and larger than any Delta Sky Club – offers a variety of experiences and amenities for the premium traveler, from fine dining to spa-like wellness treatments to valet services and more. Delta One ticketholders can curate their own one-of-a-kind Lounge experience, based on what their travel day is calling for.

It’s a new standard of elevated service – one that complements Delta’s most premium onboard offering and is brought to life by the signature hospitality for which Delta is known.

It looks like a nice space, but they are charging for all but the most ordinary wines. Hardly very "premium"...

Enjoy your flight! Having an aisle seat, I saw very little out of the window, so saw little of the route, but I’ve done it 30+ times now so not missing out. I wasn’t looking for bus stops at MXP, but the rail station was well signed at least.
I’m doing Malpensa-Manchester on the way home again, but with Ryanair this time.
Much easier than I thought at Malpensa T2.
Remote stand but easy through passport control and straight into arrivals in plenty of time.
Bus stops close by and easy to find, good trip up to Domodossola and then a New Pendolino into CH.
I saw more of the Alps on the outward flight (northerly route over Zurich) than in my time on the ground in CH.
Thick cloud in the valleys, but the peaks were standing proud. (Much like your pic above).
Bad weather in the Alps generally, with some infrastructure damage south of the watershed - Geneva airport closed for a while.

I wonder how long the queue is to get in. Funny I just gave a quote to a journo about the very same thing!

Depends where it’s going to. Delays exceeding 2 hours with flights up to 1500km the airline has to give you food / drink vouchers.

Got sent information for fod voucher to redeem. Went into WH Smith and got told to pick what I wanted, turns out it was a £3 voucher!

You're entitled to food and drink "in reasonable relation to the waiting time" so a £3 voucher is hardly sufficient, given it will get you all of about half of a croissant at airport prices.

Buy what you'd get anyway, keep the receipts and then submit an expenses claim afterwards.

Aer Lingus from Manchester to Dublin, returning with franchisee Emerald Airlines.

I was lucky I went when I did. My 2nd choice of dates would have meant heading out on June 26th, the day their work to rule started. My outbound flight has been pulled ever since.

London Stansted to Edinburgh last night. 737 - 800 with registration G- RUKD. usually older 737 -800s on the UK short hops.

Flight left around 1230am after a 2 hour delay. One of the last flights to leave Stansted with a few low cost flights to Turkey leaving after 12. A right mixture of passengers on this flight with many connecting from other low cost flights at Stansted.

There is very few late flights from London to the central belt on a Saturday and Ryanair don't serve Stansted to Glasgow anymore.

Arrived at Edinburgh at 1.30am with light in the sky to the North.

Last Sunday I took a BAe Jetstream 41 from Wick to Aberdeen with Eastern Airways.

Wick Airport is a curious little affair - about a 15-minute walk from the centre of town. Very friendly staff - with the one lady on check-in also taking us out to the plane. All but the tiniest bags also go in the hold. You put them on a trolley as you go outside and they're put back on a trolley for you to collect when you arrive.

No in-flight service but some wonderful views on take-off and a smooth half-hour or so trip down the coast.

I tried and failed to get to Amsterdam with EasyJet from Liverpool , Manchester and Luton this weekend. Everyone ended up being cancelled. I'm usually very lucky with flights with everything going according to plan. They say they come in three's, definitely caught up with me this weekend.

Friday 28 June: N29981 on UA900, London Heathrow (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO).

Multiple "red pens":
First time in North America.
First time in the USA.
First time on United.
First time on a Boeing 787 (and 787-9).

This was also my first Boeing aircraft in almost 2 years, the previous one being some sort of Ryanair 737 returning from Budapest to London Stansted. In the 2 years since that, other than one BA Embraer E190 from LCY to MXP, all 16 flights since then had been on Airbus aircraft (one A330 and A350 on a LHR to Madrid round trip, and all the rest being on A319/A320/A321 plus Neo variants of those).

My return from SFO next week is expected to be on a United 777-300ER, in Premium Plus. It will be my first flight not in Economy, because Premium Plus cost only £350-400 extra, worth it for a 10½ hours flight.

On the 4th of July, 2024, I did a flight from London Heathrow to New York for a couple days of vacation. This flight, I had the pleasure of being in Premium Economy. This was a roughly 7 hour 15 minute flight, but at New York it was made longer as we had to basically circle the entire airport just to get to the stand! Apart from that it was a very good flight.

Must have been painful!

Often the case at JFK. My last couple of arrivals there have also involved nearly an hour on the tarmac waiting a stand. And then more than that at US immigration.
