The home club have to cover the expenses of the travelling teamReally? Who pays compensation in a case like this (genuine question, it's not something I've heard of)?

Which has led to some ridiculous stuff to get matches on - do you remember the cup match at Bognor Regis where they parked cars on the pitch to try and thaw it out?The home club have to cover the expenses of the travelling team
Yes it was almost as science denying as some of the crazy stuff we’ve seen over the least few years.Which has led to some ridiculous stuff to get matches on - do you remember the cup match at Bognor Regis where they parked cars on the pitch to try and thaw it out?

One would hope that there is a specified (maximum) level of expense that can be claimed under this rule. I'd be interested to see how this is actually set up in the league's rules. The flip side has been certain clubs in national league / national league north over the years who insisted they needed to stay overnight before a Saturday 3pm game despite being under two hours drive away.
In the event of a match being postponed where one club is found to be at fault, then if the visiting club has set off, full travelling expenses and meal allowances may be claimed, and, in exceptional circumstances, the cost of overnight accommodation for up to 18 persons. One would hope that there is a specified (maximum) level of expense that can be claimed under this rule. And torrentialIn the event of a match being postponed where one club is found to be at fault,
Think you mean torrential rain. And torrential rail is deemed to be the fault of the home club?
Indeed!Think you mean torrential rain.
Well, that's not what @VauxhallandI suggested in post #29,519 (although I suspect that it was a downpour!):It had been raining heavily overnight on Saturday morning. Seems to me that Altrincham FC didn't have a pitch inspection until it was too late, and Bromley were already well on their way.
There was a huge downfall in the morning which didn’t have long enough to drain away. It was also double the predicted amount.
Bromley will have set off before the down pour and they will be compensated
So, it's not automatic as suggested above - that seems fairer. Thanks for the detail you've provided. It'll be for the National League to determine, however, whether the home club were actually at fault.
Indeed its a tough line to walk.I appreciate that a club should use its best endeavours to carry out pitch inspections at the earliest reasonable opportunity but sometimes the weather doesn't co-operate. And at the same time there are occasions where games are called off early and then clubs get criticised for not waiting because conditions have improved.
That doesn't sound like a gamble at all. If you get heavy rain the game remaining playable can simply depend on how long the rain lasts and how long before kick-off it eases or stops. Even the best drainage can be overwhelmed.Turned out to be the wrong call but not an un-calculated gamble
Fulham 2 ... Chelsea 1
Yet another bad result for Chelsea just a few days after being beaten 4-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup and to top it all, new loan signing Joao Felix was sent off for a reckless challenge before the hour mark.

Did I read right in todays results. Did Liversedge really beat table-topping South Shields 1-0?....or was it Guisley who beat them?So would second from bottom Liversedge

FC United of Manchester 4 ... Hyde United 4
Considering the recent weather has been poor, this match always attracts a good attendance and a total of 1,764 was recorded today. Goals galore in the first half and it was 3-3 at half time. Both sides added another goal to their teams tally in the second half.

Good I found the quality far better than usual as players were fresh rather than playing at the end of a season in 30 - 40 degrees and with the next being in North America with Mexico as a host it'd make sense to move that outside summer too.Looks like we'll have another winter world cup in 2030...
Who is Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s reported new club?
With just one solid offer on the table, everything points to Cristiano Ronaldo joining Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr in January.en.as.com
Yes, because playing in winter in Canada could work so well!with the next being in North America with Mexico as a host it'd make sense to move that outside summer too.
Most of the US would be interesting as well.Yes, because playing in winter in Canada could work so well!
The Robins vs The Robins?Altrincham draw Bracknell away in the FA Trophy.
They play at Sandhurst which is an odd place for its position in not having a direct rail link from London
That‘s highly likely, because the route was built by the South Eastern - mileages through Sandhurst are counted from zero at Charing Cross…The Robins vs The Robins?
P.S. Has Sandhurst station (on the North Downs line) ever had a direct train service into London?
