I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that wonderful penalty at Newcastle last night. Mr. Eze of Palace with a stop-start stop-start run up and was at a dead stop when he reached the ball. Result? A gentle tap to Nick Pope. He must have nerve though, he's going to pick up his thousands of pounds in wages for probably the worst penalty I've ever seen and a dire performance to boot (literally!).

The penalty can’t have been much worse than Ademola Lookman’s penalty for Fulham in 2020 when he tried to Panenka it

North West Counties Football League...Premier Division

Bury 4...Burscough 0

League website gives an attendance of 8,719 who saw Bury score twice in each half against a team that had won five of its last seven games and finish the season as champions and gain promotion to the Northern Premier Leaue as part of their comeback. P46 ... W 33 D10 L3 ... Goals for 133 ... Goals against 49 ... 109 points.
Higher up the leagues we go, the more tickets will cost, crowds will go down, costs will go up (wages etc) so the whole cycle of debt starts again. Simply not big enough to host EFL football, seeing as we have several clubs around playing much higher football. But, they know there is a decent bank of base support, so if the club can keep a tight reign on spending and keep out of debt...who knows??

It's hardly a ringing endorsement of the people who run the club to suggest 'the whole cycle of debt starts again' with promotions. Surely they will have learnt things from the demise of the old club and ensure history doesn't repeat itself. Much smaller clubs than Bury seem to manage just fine so i can't see where there would be a problem.

They are now going to join the second tier of teams in the Northern Premier League, as occurred to the rwo teams from Wythenshawe last season. If they then pass through the first tier, then the Premier Division of that league, the next step will be the National League (North) then the National League. If such a miracle should occur, that is what they will face over the next four years.

I took it to be a concern about the future rather than a criticism of those running the club now.

Will Cheadle Town's 1,200 capacity be sufficient in their final home match next weekend when their visitors will be second-placed Lower Breck who are Liverpool-based and liable to bring a considerable number of supporters.
Would have thought that Park Road Stadium, Cheadle will be more than adequate for this one. Lower Breck's typical home gate this season has only been a few hundred. Their home match vs Bury had a (season high) gate figure of 556.
Cheadle Town vs Lower Breck saw a gate figure of 235 yesterday. The visitors duly won 4-1 and results elsewhere mean that they now face West Didsbury and Chorlton at home in next Saturday's promotion play-off SF. Winners face Ramsbottom U or Padiham.

Terrible game played on a terrible pitch by two teams with nothing to play for

Lots of talk about the state of the pitch after our egg chasing landlords churned It up and a subsequent alleged lack of attention. I have seen less sand on a beach and flatter mountains than what I saw on Friday! Terrible. Grass far to long also.

The relationship between landlord and tenant has been difficult at times but seems abject at present

Manchester United. Made it to the last four in the UEFA Europa League during the week and now going for the last four in the Premier League. A remarkable double. Who'd have thunk it?

They're now just two points (three places) above fourth bottom position in the Premier League after today's 0-1 home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Spectacular mediocrity!

“We need to score more goals…”. Amazing how clever these top modern managers have to be…

We (Leicester) have today been relegated as Wolves won and we lost, (due to Wolves win be would still be relegated if we had drew). A very poor season for us with 5 games remaining.

After the result of the match results today, I now wonder what odds the bookmakers would offer on clubs other than Ipswich now being relegated.

The only one I saw today from the teams down there are West Ham at 500/1.

Incidentally many bookmakers are offering 25/1 on Man City......

As it stands, West Ham are the only team not mathematically safe. However, for them to be relegated requires them to lose every remaining match, Ipswich to win all of theirs, and a goal difference swing of 20 to be overturned. (WH on -18, Ipswich -38).
I think it’s safe to say the bottom three are sorted.

Very strange season in the PL. Liverpool have been the only serious contenders from very early on (Arsenal are crying out for a world class striker). And the relegated sides have been very far adrift. But the quality in the middle of the table is impressive; if you follow the middle 12 ish clubs it’s been a very competitive season with everyone able to take points off everyone else.

To do what, exactly?
To be relegated. Given we are still awaiting the results of the 115 (or whatever it is) charges, there is always a chance of them being relegated / expelled from the league.
Interestingly, I've also seen Brighton and Newcastle with odds for relegation despite it not being mathematically possible. Obviously there are rumours of some sort about those clubs as well.
