A GB News producer said on Twitter last night that the viewing figures weren’t looking good for the usual slot, so hopefully they’re finding a way to bring Dan back, but the Byline Times (which isn’t exactly a trustworthy source) says he’s sacked too. Patrick Christys is doing tonight and tomorrow night.

Based on what? If Wootton takes them to court and succeeds in a libel case, then I'd agree, but AFAIK this hasn't yet happened (even though he threatened to a while back).

Laurence Fox appears to have become a parody of a parody of himself. Half expecting him to turn round and say he's just been acting crazy as part of preparation for a role. Can't work out if he's seriously ill or just the worlds biggest wind up merchant and contrarian.

I wonder if he might be clever enough to try that excuse. Frankly, I can't see what else he can do going forward. I mean, he was talking about being forced to shave his head and implying a connection with the Jews being sent to camps. He's totally lost the plot.

The positive responses he gets on X that might make him actually believe he has support will be bots and shills most likely not even in the UK.

Jeez, I hadn't seen that yet, absolutely unbelievable.

I think he's messed up, because he's gone down the slippery slope so fast he hasn't even given himself to properly monetise his lunacy. I'd almost feel sorry for him, if he didn't seem so intent on hurting others

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Fox has just been arrested for encouraging his muppet followers via social media to vandalise ULEZ cameras. He's certainly going 'on a journey' for sure.

And why not? Sir Michael Take is the esteemed ex-MP for Dorset East, don't you know. Living not so far from Dorset, I remember him well, a constant voice of reason during the Marxist Blair years. A proud upholder of Conservative values, both lower-case and upper-case C. Not to mention an ardent Brexiter and supporter of Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

Indeed, I remember his election in 1983. Such a charming fellow. He achieved a colossal swing of -2.9% to win a majority of 30,004 and he was a breath of fresh air throughout his 36 years in parliament. Just like fresh air, it was touched with that realistic odour of smoke and and the refreshing flavour of a hefty kick of carbon dioxide. He would have made the perfect foil for Liz Truss - it was as if she'd stolen his policies. A true man of the people - certainly when I knew him, he was the most working-class chap at Eton. His family had to go to Carbis Bay for the summer, you know. He was a very ardent supporter of Boris, yes - indeed Sir Michael also had a middle name derived from German, albeit "de Toricht". They said he was a topping sport, and a true man of wit, almost as sane as John Knill - not that I've spoken to "them", or been to Carbis Bay: I prefer to use my private aeroplane for holidaying...

I can't say him doing anything except dig. He's gone "down the slippery slope" fast enough to actually believe the nonsense escaping the vacuum inside his head - as opposed to a certain other type of extreme-right (or indeed extreme-left) conspiracy theorist who is in it "just for the likes". And I doubt he's clever enough to find a brewery, let alone organise a "work event" in one.
I'm sure that if there wasn't any outrage or condemnation of their ridiculous rhetoric from the "other side", GB News would just fade away into obscurity. It's immature and infantile, plain and simple. It works on the same principle as playground bullies. The fact that they employed Calvin Robinson (who, if he has any genuine faith, needs to read 1 Peter 2:11-12 and Romans 3:9-20 and concentrate his worship on the Lord rather than the source of such ungodly remarks as Laurence Fox's) says all you need to know about the kind of crowd they wish to attract.

Almost a year after they announced John Cleese would be starting a show, they have finally announced it will be called “The Dinosaur Hour” and will be on Sunday 29 October from 21.00 for ten episodes.

More schedule changes afoot then as 21.00-23.00 on Sundays is currently Mark Dolan. The trailer is at (link here to Instagram where I saw it: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyJdpAZNXyd/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==)

Presumably the BBC wouldn’t allow them to call it “Spot the Looney”. Anyway, the title could apply to any programme on GBeebies.

Is John Cleese turning into a real-life Basil Fawlty?

Sad to see him join a channel whose attitude he once pilloried.

Interestingly, there's a John Cleese interview - originally on T.V. but available on You Tube - from 4 years ago. He said then that he was leaving the country shortly because of all the invasions of freedoms (Leveson rejected etc) by right-wing governments. I wouldn't have put Basil down as a liberal myself, but...

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced he is joining GB News.
Johnson, who stepped down as an MP this summer, said he was "excited" to take up a role on the news channel.
He added: "I will be talking about the immense opportunities for Global Britain - as well as the challenges - and why our best days are yet to come."
GB News said he would present a series "showcasing the power of Britain around the world" and appear during coverage of the UK and US elections next year.
He will work as a presenter, programme maker and commentator, the broadcaster said.

As is Sunak doesn't have enough problems.

He won't be cheap either.

He'll take Dan Wootton's salary I suppose. Or maybe he'll demand more as he's so poor.

It's always been difficult for people to pretend that GB News is in any way impartial or unbiased or carries a range of views - this has to seal it once and for all.

More. He's in a good bargaining position - US and UK elections (although the latter may not be next year) where having him on the team with be an upgrade on Wootton. This news that they have signed him will put their recent problems in the shade. He will got straight into 'make it up as I go along' mode. He will undoubtedly push the viewing figures up so the channel will be able to charge more for advertising.

I suspect that Ofcom will probably need to take on extra staff to cope with the amount of partial rubbish that he will spout. Of course, some will be aimed at those on the Conservative side who he feels stabbed him in the back, so GBeebies will no doubt claim he is being impartial, “…and anyway the election is over.”

In a year's time if GB News is still going I can imagine a number of staff changes will result from a surge in staff going on maternity leave.

It has never really pretended to be something that it isn't. It represents the views of many people (me included) and it has become the only news channel that i bother with these days.

Never pretended to be something it isn’t? The name is wrong for a start, as a lot of the content is opinion rather than actual news.
It also likes to show itself as unbiased when it is anything but.

Our best days might have been ahead if he and his immediate successor hadn't wrecked our trade with our major trading partners (Johnson/Frost's lousy Brexit deal) and wrecked our fiscal credibility (Truss/Kwarteng's "don't call it a budget" err, budget).

No doubt Johnson will be full of his usual fact-free self promotion and porkies about how he did everything right and that whatever went wrong was all other people's fault.

Still, while he's vapouring away to three men and a dog on GBN he's not cluttering up channels I'd actually want to watch.
