GCR Winter Steam Gala (26-28/01) - change of visiting loco

For anyone planning to attend the Great Central Railway winter steam gala, a line-up change has been announced. Planned visiting engine, USATC S160 class 2253 ‘Omaha’ can’t attend due to a mechanical failure, so Severn Valley-based BR Standard 4 4-6-0 75069 is taking it’s place. The remainder of the line-up is unchanged, including the other booked visitor, Lancashire & Yorkshire A-class 0-6-0 52322.

“One of our pre-booked Gala guests, ‘Omaha’ 2253 has developed a mechanical fault before it was due to be transported to the GCR and will no longer be able to visit, but with thanks to the Severn Valley Railway and ‘The 75069 Fund’ we are delighted to announce that BR Standard 4 75069 is on its way to the GCR to star in the Gala alongside L&Y A Class which is joining us straight from its appearance at Embsay. 52322 appears with kind permission of Andy Booth.”​

Not a surprise considering the standard 4 was moved to Kidderminster just before the points at the north end of highley were taken out.
