I think that the Greek throne was the one in question. The monarchy of Greece was established at the London Conference in 1832 and Leopold was offered the throne, which he declined. The first Greek monarch was Otto I (1832-1862).

My taxi taking me to Withington Hospital for an echocardiogram this morning is due at 10:00 and it will be sometimes in the afternoon before I return home.

Not wanting to let matters go any further, the correct answer was the Battle of Dun Nechtan, that was fought in 685AD. The victory gained by the Picts ensured the Northumbrians lost control of much of the Picts lands that they had been gradually been amassing for many years prior to that battle.
