LNER sell credit for use on their website and apps. I think you might be able to buy this as a code to send to someone to redeem.

Hi I wanted to gift a trip to one of my close cousin. I am not sure where he will plan to travel so just want to share a gift card, so that he can use this and can book tickets for free (or discount). Are there any website which accepts gift card for train ticket booking ? Thanks

As @MrJeeves has just advised, LNER currently appear to sell e-vouchers. Only valid for 12 months mind!

Yes, LNER sell e-vouchers which can be redeemed for any train ticket they sell online – unless you take them up on their exhortations to redeem your LNER rewards credit towards the vouchers. This unwise action renders the entire voucher, including the paid for amount, valid only to purchase LNER advances.
