Next weekend will see a lot of closures on argyle line and queen st low level.

Does anybody know what the 'improvements' are that are being carried out.

Well it looks like both Glasgow Low Level Stations are closed for the weekend.

This might be commissioning for the chord at Anniesland.

However of note the Friday night Sleeper to Fort William is diverted via Falkirk Grahamston, Croy and Cowlairs Jns.

The Sunday Night Sleeper from Fort William runs Cowlairs Jns, Croy and Falkirk High.

Interestingly though Scotrail haven't diverted the Glasgow to Anniesland service to Milngavie instead busing both routes.

They'd need several extra DMUs to do that, especially as it would be very busy. Scotrail are short of DMUs.

Possibly in the week but surely not at full utilisation at weekends. More likely to be a driver route / traction issue I reckon but disappointing nevertheless.

Some pictures of the works have appeared on www.railscot.co.uk this morning. Can't see much detail though.

Oh dear - overrun at the Sandyford Street bridge works - possibly a tamper derailed? pic from Saturday
Not good, but at least ScotRail have a timetable ready to make the best of it.

Just been caught up in the disruption in a rare foray to the east coast.

It showed how much demand has grown on Airdrie Bathgate line as with services reduced to the old service of 2tph the train was full and standing with passengers left behind at Livingston North and no one able to board at Uphall.

And of course, as ever, ScotRail are getting the blame.

I don't envy the people who are manning the Facebook and Twitter feeds. Even after explaining to people that it's NR who are to blame and this wasn't expected, they still get abuse for not giving advance warning

Then there's the ones who are just incapable of understanding simple English. What part of "because of overrunning engineering works" means "because of the weather"? You then see these people listing their "occupation" as either student, or a job in which you'd expect at least a basic level of education.

Sorry...Monday rant over. People really do irritate me sometimes

I find on Twitter, people ask "what is the matter with the "whereever" train.
Obviously TOC Twitter have to reply "which train, what time and where to"

They must have expected some of it, or had a few hours notice as they seam on the whole to be handling the disruption reasonably.
Yes, they'll have had some notice from NR. But as you say, it'll have been hours, not the days/weeks/months that some seem to want. The notion of "unexpected" appears alien to them.

Track now cleared, but T/T is literally all over the place.
Network Rail tweeted these pics of the culprit about lunchtime today:
