Would an AC unit with a pantograph be more convenient for charging the batteries at Maidenhead?
Not enough time to recharge. In the likely absence of any wiring during CP6, the Hy-drive option for the Turbos is looking the most promising, if the Chiltern trial goes well. 3 car EMU conversions are now off the table.
The structure of the Turbos has been looked at carefully by the ROSCO as part of the Hy-drive work and it is still very good. “Good enough for at least another 10 years” is what they told me.
Still hoping we get Oxford authorised for CP6 - that would create another 4 diagrams for EMU’s.
