I'm planning a week in Manchester at the end of May, I was wondering if there is a combined weekly ticket which can be used on Metrolink and the major bus operators in Greater Manchester (Stagecoach, Go North West, First and Diamond)? Even better if there is one that covers trains in the PTE area. Looking on the Transport for Greater Manchester website it seems to suggest there may be a card I can obtain, but as a non-Manchester resident I'm not sure if I qualify?

I previously did a week in Manchester during August 2022 using a 7-day Metrolink travelcard and PlusBus around the area, which was fairly expensive as it involved having to book several random train journeys to get the PlusbBus ticket (and also difficult to explain to bus drivers on a few occasions why I was using PlusBus on a strike day!)

There is an anybus + Tram weekly for £41 and that's all day and the full hours, I don't think (surprisingly) one that covers all three modes, there is a ticket which is bus/train and city-centre tram but I don't think you want to be confined to the centre?

You do appear to need a "Get Me There" card in advance though!!

Travelling around Greater Manchester is smarter with get me there, bringing you more flexible and less hassle travelcards making public transport easier. You can use your get me there card to buy AnyBus travelcards and AnyBus & Tram travelcards.
We’re introducing new get me there services and a range of Metrolink and bus and tram travelcards that will only be available with a smart card.

Your get me there card can now be used to buy travelcards for bus*, Metrolink and combined travel. Best of all you can now buy Metrolink, bus and tram travelcards online.

Apply for your get me there card here

There are Off-Peak One Day tickets that cover all three modes, but not a Weekly equivalent.

The closest would be a County Card, which covers Buses and Trains throughout Greater Manchester, plus Metrolink in Zone 1 (Cornbrook - New Islington/Victoria.)

Thanks for the replies, I'm guessing that as it seems you have to be a Greater Manchester resident to obtain a "get me there" card (and clearly Norwich doesn't come under those boundaries!), it may be best to buy a 7-day Metrolink ticket and maybe just obtain 1 day Anybus tickets for the days where I'm planning a transport bash in Manchester. (I have day trips to Sheffield, York and Nottingham planned as well during my holiday so won't need the buses all the time :) )

I'm staying at a hotel near Shudehill, would it be a good idea maybe to enquire at the Ticket Shop there?

If I'm reading it correctly you can use any ITSO card, in case you already have one?

Edit: there'd be something wonderfully rebellious about using a Merseytravel card in GM! :)

I live in Cumbria and have a Get Me There card. Just ordered them online then top up whenever we are visiting Manchester. Not just for locals as far as Im aware

The order screen says Greater Manchester addresses only, but perhaps they don't actually pay attention to that. It's beyond stupid if they do - imagine if Oyster was only available to Londoners?

I read that as it will search for only Manchester postcodes and other postcodes can enter their address manually :D

You can buy a TfGM Wayfarer to the rail boundary station (say Grindleford) and buy return tickets from Grindleford to York, Nottingham, Sheffield etc and the train does not have to stop at Grindleford so you can use the fast trains.

Make sure you buy your Grindleford to York/Sheffield/Nottingham etc tickets before you board the train at Manchester though!

Unfornately there is not an "everything in greater manchester" weekly (or longer) ticket. I think this is ridiculous but there we are.

There is the "county card" which is what I hold. This covers busses, trains and the city zone of metrolink, but it doesn't cover the broader metrolink network. Still it may not be a bad choice if you intend to use more trains than trams.
