170 456 is one of the ones the transferred to Northern, so I venture that this is not in Scotland at all.

It's allocated to Hull Botanic Gardens, so let's start with that line...

Clue time,
here is a photo taken of a different station not long after the puzzle photo in post #50,558, it shares the same visual clue and identifying and useful information has been removed.

Time to make the clues more obvious with no redaction to the previous photo of a station with something in common with the station to guess from the photo in post #50,558. There is a geographical connection between the stations and the clues.

Time for another clue, here is a photo taken of a different station from the puzzle station and previous photos, again taken not long after the puzzle photo in post #50,558, it shares the same visual clue and it is relevant that the photos were taken around the same time.
All stations shown so far are in a (large) geographical area and their connection relates to an event.

I don't think it can be with a 170, but based on the hint is it Longniddry?
You got it, so you are up next

The connecton was the 2014 Commonwealth Games where Scotrail produced unusual station signs at some stations to celebrate previous achievments. The previous image was Polmont, another station sign was Muscleburgh.
