Hey all,

Before I started before my browsing session on here this evening, (2345 is still evening, even if only just!), I got onto YouTube to get some tunes on. Looking at my Likes list, I was inspired to start this thread. I don't honestly remember such a thread in all the years I've been on here, so let's see how it goes. So what am I on about?

Guilty Pleasure Songs, inspired by the WatchMojo I watched a while ago, Top 10 Guilty Pleasure Songs. So what's one of those? Songs that you shouldn't really enjoy, but do anyway and they're songs that cheer you up, pick you back up when you're not feeling 100%, send you on a trip down Nostalgia Lane or just generally make you happy. I've got a ton of these, and I really can't help but wonder what everyone else would put on their list. Mine includes, but is not limited to (giving me the option to add more when I remember them):

Tubthumping - Chumbawumba
Chain Reaction - Steps
Gangnam Style - PSY
Mmmbop - Hanson
You're Shining - Breeze and Styles
Elsyium Plus - Scott Brown
Fly With You - Scott Brown
You're My Angel - Breeze and Styles
Silence - Delerium
Want You Bad - The Offspring
Why Don't You Get A Job - The Offspring
Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus
Thanks For The Memories - Fall Out Boy
The Bad Touch - The Bloodhound Gang
Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne
Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne
Rollin - Limp Bizkitt (I've only just remembered this one, been forever!)
Toca's Miracle - Fragma
Mambo No. 5 - Lou Bega

That's all the ones I can remember right now, no doubt I'll be back with more soon :)

I want to f**k a dog in the a** - Blink 182 (try singing it out loud on a crowded train, I dare you <D )
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Convoy - CW McCall
Texas Bound and Flyin, Eastbound and Down, Amos Moses - Jerry Reed
They're Coming to take me away (ha ha) - Neurotic Fish
I'll be there for you (Friends Theme) - The Rembrandts
Life is a Highway (Cars theme) - The Rascal Flatts
American Badass - Kid Rock
The Yogi Bear Song - Smokey
I'm a W****r - Ivor Bigun
XM@S - Corey Taylor (When it's the season, still funny when it's not  )
I like trains - ASDF Movie
Chocolate Starfish - Limp Bizkit

The list goes on, but another day. Sometimes I just have this urge to listen to a song with a lot of expletives in it. things I would like to say but can't.

Welcome to the Black Parade, nice :) Been on a helluva MCR obsession lately I must admit, and since then Lady Gaga has been on tonight. Just a bit of difference...

Oh, I have plenty of guilty record pleasures... mostly by Rucka Rucka Ali, who takes parody music to a whole new level of sickness... with classics such as I'm a Korean, Osama bin Found, My Korea's Over, as well as one that implied that a certain member of a boyband was responsible for a terrorist outrage...

PS They're all very NSFW - which is the main reason why I haven't posted links.

Liked Rollin, until Fred Durst started shouting over it.

Anyhoo:

The Goons - Ying Tong Song
The Carpenters - Rainy Days and Mondays
Will Young - Light My Fire (just out of dislike for Jim Morrison)
Bobby Pickett & the Crypt Kickers - Monster Mash
Spitting Image - Santa Claus is on the Dole/The Chicken Song
Glen Campbell - various, does he still count as a guilty pleasure?

I like quite few of the Seekers (I'm a sucker for close harmony singing :))
The Carpenters - Sweet sweet smile !
Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
Salt 'n' Peppa - Push it (Ooh baby baby)
Barbara Dixon & Elaine Paige - I know him so well
Murray Head - One night in Bankok
Middle of the Road - Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep
Peters & Lee - Welcome Home
The Shadows - Covers of Africa by Toto and Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues and Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield and Maggie Reilly (the originals are superb, but not guilty pleasures)

There are quite a lot which some people probably think should be guilty pleasures, but I think are quite groovey.

Seeing as I mostly listen to Absolute 80s, as that's the era of music I like best, almost everything from the mid 90s that I like is a guilty pleasure! Most recently though, I have been listening to Avicii - Wake Me Up a lot

Convoy - CW McCall

Breaker 1-9, breaker 1-9, this is the Rubber Duck.

Common People by Pulp
Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer
Pop muzik by M
Out of space by Prodigy
A bizarre mash up between Benny Hill and Eminem, set to doctor who footage...(look on YouTube)
We are young by Fun

Yep, my music taste when alone in the car is appalling.

Although my favourites tend towards classic/prog/country rock, I have to admit to liking some somgs by Abba, Carpenters, Dolly Parton, Herman's Hermits, etc.

Ooh, Fun - We Are Young is a definite guilty pleasure for me too! Gonna have to shove that into YouTube right now actually, so thanks 158>185 for that one :)

Never heard of most songs in this thread at the moment to be honest!

My worst are probably The Bangles - Eternal Flame, CW McCall - Convoy or Cher - Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves. Also do like The Bellamy Brothers, but I listen to them too prolifically for them to be a guilty pleasure.

As for the people who said FOB and MCR, that's relatively normal whatever the daily fail may say... ;)

Mine's a really old one. Taxman by the Beatles - the lyrics are so apposite and ring so true almost 40 years later.

Shame that the excellent bass-line was ripped off by the Jam with their track (Start) in the early 80s! Guiltily love their music too though!!

ZZ Top

My guilty pleasure would have to be Girls Aloud and The Saturdays...
