A bit of a GWR 769 merry-go-round tomorrow 29/09 (no usual mileage accumulation run though):

5Q09 Oxford Down Carriage Sidings - Eastleigh Arlington (769928)

5Q10 Eastleigh Arlington - Reading TCD (769930)

5Q75 Burton Wetmore Sidings - Reading TCD (Loco + 769938)

For completeness, the Light Engine departing Reading TCD:

0H74 Reading TCD - Wembley Holding Sidings

Still no word on their entry into service?
The last word was 'JN114' indicating that crew training had started three weeks ago.

That suggests it might still be a while (December mentioned elsewhere) before entry into service.

Last week 769959 was working off Oxford. Last reported on 3Z43 on 22/09 but I don't know if it is still there or not.

At one point Reading could only hold four 769s due to space at the depot, but again I don't know if that still applies as there has been a lot of shuffling about of where units are being stabled since the nine foreign 387s arrived (West Ealing, Cocklebury etc).

930 Seems to be sporting something new on it's cab roof. (Not my photo)

That appears to have been shot just after the sharp right curve* before approaching Ash northbound.

*The curve was a branch off the, long gone, line from Guildford to Southampton via Farnham and Alton.

Yes for Eastleigh & Reading (but 946 & 959 at Oxford).

Cant speak for those others not delivered to GWR yet.

Right region, wrong area I’m afraid. It’s actually Shawford on the up line.

Would anybody happen to know the purpose of the new addition to its cab front? It can’t be a light as the lighting is already compliant?

Either another light or a camera I'd say. Did these units have a forward facing camera before?

It's a wireless bridge for the ASDO system. There aren't enough spare wires through the couplers for the ASDO systems on each unit to communicate when in multiple so there's a wireless connection instead.

Only manager training so far. No date for driver training to start as yet.

I've not been keeping count, does anyone know how many 769s have ventured down to Reading and how many have completed a round trip to Gatwick Airport?
Off the top of my head, 769928, 930, 943, 946, 959, and one other that I can't remember the number of right now (938?) that's in the shed on acceptance exam. And there's 937 which is due to be delivered next week I think.

Current RG 769 fleet locations:

928 (Arlington, Eastleigh)
946 & 959 (Oxford)
930, 938 & 943 (Reading TCD)

938 is on acceptance exam, 930 should be the unit out on today’s run although I believe it was a late start as the unit had a few issues!
