Another day out for 50008 on 0858 0Z50 Kings Norton OT Plant Dept to Crewe CS and 1240 0Z51 return, possibly a route learner as it's currently scheduled to be joined by a couple of 20s for 6Z20 to Crewe CS on Tuesday then on to Kirkdale CS

** Update Tuesday 8th February **

No day out for 50008 as four SLC Class 20s turned up at Kings Norton and took the barrier wagons to Crewe on 6Z20

** Update Thursday 10th February **

50008 worked 0838 6Z50 Kings Norton OTPD to Tyseley LMD with the two Dellner fitted barrier wagons to collect WMT 196108 for transfer to storage at Long Marston, departure of 1136 5Q96 from Tyesely was delayed, reportedly due to brake problems, arriving Long Marston 96 late

** Update Friday 11th February **

50008 worked 1244 6Z50 Honeybourne Sdgs to Kings Norton OTPD with the two RA barrier wagons

** Update Monday 14th February **

50008 worked 2000 6Z50 Kings Norton OTPD to Eastleigh TRSMD

** Update Wednesday 16th February **

50008 moved 484005 from Eastleigh TRSMD to Eastleigh East Yard last night for road transfer

50008 was reported to be working the Eastleigh-Crewe CS coaching stock move via Bath and Hereford yesterday but in the end it was a pair of 20s. Was there an issue with the loco or was it just duff gen?

Nothing up with any of the locos, there were two jobs to do and all the locos were due back at Kings Norton, I'm guessing that the Dellner barriers that 50008 brought down were needed to move the 484, the 50 is currently scheduled to run back tomorrow

Cheers. In some ways I’m glad it wasn’t the hoover as the schedulers had rather unkindly booked it to run up Filton Bank at exactly school run time so I would have missed out anyway.

Just seen this on rail cam and it was two class 20s :)

Yes, thanks for that, I've just seen a photo of 20007 & 20142 on Flickr, I'll be a gentleman and not name the source of the 50 info

** Update Thursday 10th March **

Lots of seemingly not very much going on recently, 50008 is still at Barrow Hill while one photo of 31106 in the shed at East Lancs has appeared on Flickr, no idea of the mechanical progress but the body looks no different yet, at Eastleigh 43465 has joined 468, 480 & 484 in RA livery with the 3rd light fitted

SLC Operations Class 20s have been operating Class 777 transfers with the barriers but it's been reported that H&H/RA operated their first train with their own licence yesterday, 1053 5Q43 Loughborough Brush to Nottingham via Leicester and 1229 5Q44 return warm storage runs for the DATS set of 43054 & 43066 with DVTs 82115 & 82136 and two Mk 3 coaches

** Update Monday 28th March **

Just as I say nothing's going on 50008 proves me wrong by working this mornings 0752 0Z43 Barrow Hill LIP to Loughborough Brush, it then collected a pair of DATS power cars, 43054 & 43066, and a Mk3 buffet for delivery to Princes Risborough for the Chinnor Diesel Gala as 1058 5Z43

However currently still at banbury at 1400 hours awaiting a route conductor between banbury and princess risbourgh. Due to route knowledge issues. Nice stop at banbury though especially as a hst has not stopped there for some time in the station on a scheduled stop.

Out on tests after a number of small modifications in Eastleigh Works. Contrary to the opinions of some on the internet, they have received modifications during their time in Eastleigh (as well as to the lights), their role / purpose will be for filled soon.

(That's not aimed at you at all @ExRes - I've just seen far too many posts on the internet / Facebook proclaiming nothing but paint had been done to them, and they'll never be used again)

When they were first repainted, 1 year ago now, RailAdventure put out a press release saying they would be going to Doncaster for mods. Why would they put out a press release saying the work would take place at Doncaster and then get it done at Eastleigh when they were at Eastleigh already?

There was an online report, still available, in "Railcolor News" dated April 2021 stating, initially, that the 43s were going to Doncaster, that was amended to Eastleigh Arlington, as for why, perhaps things changed and Eastleigh were able to offer an earlier date for the brake translator work to be done, have we not all changed our plans at some time for a better outcome?

Interested to know what those mods are.......as there's nowt on the outside that's different apart from the lights.

The main mod reported was for the fitting of brake translator equipment

Not sure which power cars were on that, but 480 is certainly most definitely still in Eastleigh this evening.

Thanks @fgwrich 465 was ID'd by photo so presumably the other one was its recent test partner 484

** This morning (saturday) WNXX have a picture reporting the pair as 465 & 468, a campaign to make the numbers bigger is required methinks ...... **

Thanks for that @Spirit555 looks as though they may have a chance of some work next week as there is a 6Z20 running to Crewe CS for 5Q21 to Kirkdale CS on Tuesday, 0Z20 from Tyseley Steam Trust also due into Kings Norton on Tuesday

Now that the partnership between Hanson &Hall and RailAdventure has seen a parting of the ways it would seem sensible to remove RA from the thread title

50008 is currently at Knottingley TMD having arrived on 1st September, it's due to operate renamed charter "The Saltburn Alternative" from Derby on 22nd October and then "The Holly & the Hoover" on 17th December, both on behalf of the Branch Line Society

31106 is still at the East Lancs Railway, no obvious updates have been made to its current state, media reports at the time of purchase suggested September for a return to working condition, but that was last September rather than this September

No updates to either the website or social media have been made for some considerable time
