Has the Harrogate line ever had diversions of the ECML?

I dont imagine so although I'm a bit young and have only lived in the area over the past few years.

Since we are on the Harrogate Line being used as a diversionary route I have previously thought that if the line from Knaresborough to Boroughbridge was reinstated, with a new line skirting around Boroughbridge then it could make an idea diversionary route to above York. Alternatively just reopen the line through Ripon although that would be more problematic.

The line through Ripon to Northallerton would make a good diversionary route. Not that I can see it happening

Any update on Goldsborough station?

Anyway more recently i.e shortly before the latest HS2 announcement the Harrogate Advertiser unveiled how 'Harrogate - York trains to go 'twice hourly' be end of 2020 ?' on the 7th February 2020.

Basically its to remain a single line however the signalling is to be upgraded, sadly!

Does anybody know if they're is to be any other improvements to Harrogate other than upgrading the signalling and improvements around the station entrance ?

Just wondering if they're any plans to increase platform capacity ?
