Has the Burger King at York shut?

I'm both surprised and disappointed to hear "The Longboat" has fallen victim to the idiotic "hotel guests only" policy recently implemented at many Premier Inn restaurants. Over the years, I've had some very enjoyable meals in there with the family - albeit not breakfast.

One wonders whether this is a strategy - there are plenty of places where Premier Inn are applying for planning permission to reduce restaurant space and increase the number of rooms, presumably those planning applications can be nicely supported by showing the number of diners falling.

Ooh, that's so cynical, you're probably spot on!

Especially somewhere like York, where hotel rooms regularly command exorbitant prices...

The foul smell that wafts from the Burger King at Paddington has ensured I'll never buy their "food". Grim.

So, 21:30 on a Saturday night (i.e. just now), a queue at Lebeneat, whilst Burger King was shut!

The one at Piccadilly definitely leaves a lot to be desired. If it isn't undercooked things are missing.

I remember a couple of years ago they hadn't any burgers because "someone had forgot to order them".
Last few times I have had a Burger King, the chips have been undercooked or unsalted.

Burger King is one of them things that sounds good on paper but doesn't always deliver.

The Burger King at Edinburgh Waverley closes early last time I passed, around 7.

Glasgow Central had a Burger King but a Tortilla Burrito is going in where it was, these are popping up at airports and stations.

As with many things these days, it pushes you towards using their app. I had a bacon double cheeseburger meal for £4.99 yesterday, and often get a whopper meal for £5.99 using the offers on their app.
I don't know if you can use it with the station outlets though.
You cant use the offers on app at station or airport locations. The airport locations offer breakfast and have the highest prices.

I don't think I've ever tried French toast ! Perhaps if they introduce it over here.
So easy to make at home and really really good!! Get some crusty thick bread, dip in eggs and milk and salt, fry gently and decide if you want to do sweet, usually cinnamon and icing sugar (french toast) or savoury with some pepper bacon and brown sauce (eggy bread)

In America they do French Toast Sticks for breakfast and they are amazing. The absolute highlight of a long and tedious drive from Providence RI to Niagara Falls

Airport Burger Kings still do Breakfast. They used to have nice hash brown bites but they have changed them they taste mostly of onion now.

Went to burger king today and immediately shocked at the £9 price tag for a medium whopper meal. Is that normal? That's more than the McDonald's big tasty

It’s been a few years since I last had the misfortune to eat in Burger King, but it was always more expensive than McDonald’s. They’re both frankly disgusting, but at least McDonald’s knows what it is and is priced accordingly. I can respect that (sort of!).

Don’t get me started on KFC!

When it comes to the "meat bit", McDonald's is actually excellent quality for the price. It's not clear from your comment whether you're acknowledging that or not.

(Of couse it's not high quality objectively)

I am not sure about Burger King.

Both have got much more expensive recently because it was previously much simpler to offer that reasonably cheaply with a tightly run ship. But with minimum wage rises and now the NI change, staffing costs are going up and soon it may be fairly pointless having cheap burgers when mid range ones (five guys etc) are more or less the same price. It'll be interesting to see what happens but as a betting man I'd be confident McDonalds come out ok in the end even if they have to go a bit premium. Burger King I've no clue.

I was referring to the offer generally rather than any specific element, however I’ve read numerous articles claiming the beef they use is actually not bad so I’m happy to concur (the occasional treble cheeseburger is actually a guilty pleasure, just not in-restaurant!).

I suspect the chicken may not be all that great, however the lower priced stuff in the supermarkets also leaves a lot to be desired so it wouldn’t be a unique issue.

I’m inclined to agree.

Currently breaking a journey at York with the original intention of using the Burger King for lunch, something I've done many times before - but it isn't open. Doesn't seem to be any signage about this and I can't find any immediate news stories about it closing either. Is this the new normal or is this an abberation of some kind? It never seemed very busy so I can believe either.
Perhaps they regularly have staffing issues.

You need to use the app offers to get 'sensible' pricing at Burger King

Currently they have a large Whopper meal on there for £5.99 but on Wednesdays only there is also an offer for the Whopper on its own for £1.99
