Evening everyone.

A friend of mine had this photo of 50004 St Vincent posted on one of his Facebook feeds the other day but the person who posted it has absolutely no details of what had occurred and was asking if anyone else knew?

I don’t even know where the location is but if anyone can get that then we might start to get somewhere with it.

I was looking at photos of 50004 when it was withdrawn and I can’t see any obvious damage, the intercity liveried mk2 makes me think it’s probably post about 1986 but yeah, any thoughts?

Did 50004 'St. Vincent' ever return into service after this October 1988 incident? Believe it was subsequently withdrawn June 1990 and then scrapped in May 1992.

I think that's the window (if not also the person) that took the photo that started this.

I don't reckon so. The passing train pictured is on a different running line to the one the photo of the 50 was taken from.

In addition, the individual is leaning out of the rear droplight of a blue-grey (not Intercity) liveried vehicle and the staff trackside are in different positions.

Yes, the ‘Railgenarchive‘ shows some workings in 1989.

That pic rings bells here also. I was heading North with 47553 (0634 Poole-Man P) en route to SVR event. Decamped at Banbury and caught a DMU back down to Oxford to take the attached photo. From Oxford picked up 0940 ex Paddington with 50026, which promptly failed (oil everywhere I noted) just short of New Street. 47566 rescued the train and dragged in to New Street arriving 1235. SVR was reached somewhat late for runs behind D1041 & D7018, so not all was lost !
