Early Mk.2 coaches. You can tell by the windows :)
</pedant>

And at least it was a preserved railway, so of course it definitely would never be going any faster than 25mph...

Also, the solebars are covered by the body sides.

So so so many flaws in this!

Her death scene at the end was amusing, no attempt to get the paramedics to help, instead all the actors stood around her and the coach in flames. While she was covered in "dirt" to show the impact from the coach blowing up, still rather amusing that she didn't have worse injuries and that her lips/nails still looked perfect!

Well I'm glad Candice from Coronation Street had a high-vis jacket on before she went on the track, although I think Network Rail prefer orange rather than dayglo pink :)

Also what happened to the Class 47 that was on the back?

There was also footage from the top of the train which appeared to show more than two carriage!

Also what happened to the drive and guard!

Sorry to rain on the parade, but is it not incredibly insensitive to have this story line almost precisely ten years to the day since a driver and 7 passengers died in similar circumstances at Ufton Nervet???!!!

Possibly, but it depends how you want to look at it. Hollyoaks is no doubt a popular programme, and it can also raise awareness about the dangers involved.

After going to a small service at Exeter a week ago to remember Stan and the other people that were killed I would agree with you.

While the highlighting of these things is normally a good thing, I find the timing rather insensitive.

I do rather agree with you on this one. Whilst I found some of the drama slightly amusing, only amusing in the way it was filmed - the bizarre and pointless falling off the bog shot for example. It is a shame however that the usual 'soaps' are doing the usual kill a character off, we'll use the railways to do so. And it possibly wasn't the best time to show it either, I still remember seeing the remains of the PC a few years ago - a sight which I have to admit, still haunts me to this day. I don't think it was intentional by C4/Hollyoaks, just poorly timed.

I can see where you are coming from but no. Outside of the railway and the family and friends of those who died just who will remember that incident?

Bear in mind these shows are created a good few months in advance and scheduled in to a timeline - there is probably something reletivley close to any event where people have died be that in a car/plane/train/bus crash so should they just not bother making drama shows about any of it now?

Or what about the tons of war films that have been on lately? Close to remembrance day but isnt it insensitive to those who have died in wars to show them?

No, its not. The general public cant just walk around on egg shells because something has hapenned in history that may be reflected in the telly they watch.

Also this must have been an enthusiasts wet dream to watch - as this thread shows - I imagine the thousands of folk sat there at home going 'Thats wrong, this is wrong' 'Why do they have a different class of train on the back' 'Why are theyusing that class of train at the front' and all the other stuff posted already on this thread about how the train was set up and missing bits and bobs to their missus who probably sat there and said 'thats nice dear'

Please tell me that the first coach following the mock-up 14 was also a mock-up?

I presume so. The close-up shot of the loco doing its initial falling over bit and way the coach lands behind it seems to suggest it's rather light, and is it just me or does it look slightly 'square' for the real thing? If you watch carefully in the 'head on' shot whatever it is behind the loco there has some odd windows in it - looks like pairs of very thin windows, certainly not a Mk2.

It is a pity that soaps do not mention other soaps. I wonder what Roy from Corrie would have said about the Hollyoaks train crash?

There were puns in the Hollyoaks daily schedules, such as whether John Paul's concerns about Lockie's insincerities could derail the wedding ceremony!

Random thought but does anyone know why they chose a Class 14 in particular to mock up?
