Since I'm not sure where to post this, I'll post it here.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the directions for how to walk from Oban Railway Station to the Ferry port. If it means anything, it's the ferry to Craignure on the Isle of Mull I'd be looking for.

Also, if anyone knows how to get from the ferry port at Craignure to the narrow gauge railway there, that'd be highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Google maps has proved to be useless on both accounts.

Thanks.

You can't miss it. I've never done it, but I'm told it's right there next to the station. Just look for the Caledonain MacBrayne buildings and (hint hint) ferries.

Ok mate. Walk out of station. Carry on straight ahead into the car park. Turn left. At the far end, turn right. Follow the instructional sign reading "To the Ferries"

It's a cracker of a ferry terminal, complete with departure lounge! One thing though, be prepared to pay 20p for the toilets (even the departure lounge bogs have barriers up)/vault the barrier (wouldn't recommend, but it is very easy)/go in the station.

Thanks for that!

I'm in Glasgow nearly every day, so I'm used to paying 30 pence. I'll be sure to go on the train though so I can pee for free.

Now it's been years since I travelled on a ferry, so I don't know much about what I'm doing. Is there a ticket office there?

I remember when the toilets at Glasgow Queen Street started charging. This was the late '80s and it was 20p even then. I'd never heard of such a thing up till that point, but IIRR it was customary for ladies to have to pay, tho not blokes.

Of course in those days you could get on board a parked up train (doors always unlocked), go for a wee and flush it onto the track. This simultaneously got around paying, and registered a clear protest against the Scottish Region for levying such an outrageous charge ;)

There are through fares to and from Craignure.
Craignure (Isle of Mull)
Interchange station: Oban
Shipping operator: Caledonian MacBrayne
Permitted through fares may be compiled by adding the amounts shown below to fares from all stations:

Add-on amounts
£4.65 Single
£9.30 All Returns
It seems that Railcard discounts are not available on the through fares.

Well I don't have a RailCard so that wouldn't effect me anyway. :) Thanks for your help!

IIRC, when you get off the ferry and turn left, walk down that road towards Craignure itself, and it's the first left, just before the police station, then follow that road down. I think it's signposted from there at least, though I've not been there for a couple of years, and am usually just passing through when I am there.
