as I walk with a stick, so was wondering if i should book assistance to help me catch my connection, I have seen the platform layout pdf to gain some idea, but it is bad to see the distances invovled.
Any advise given would be helpful.
thanks in advance

You fail to mention which station you are talking about which will make it difficult to answer!

Crewe has two footbridges.
The one at the south end of the station, towards the front of the train when you arrive, is a very short distance to cross over from platform 5 to platform 7. I have some difficulty walking although I no longer need a stick, and I always use this myself. It is wide and relatively quiet to use. Most people use the other bridge which also leads to the station exit.
The one at the north end of the station also has lifts so you do not have to use stairs. However this is a longer route in total. And you will have to wait for the lifts up and down.
I suspect you will take time looking for and finding assistance if you have booked it which would better be spent making the walk on your own. But of course I do not know how difficult it is for you to walk. If you are also OK with walking up stairs then the southern footbridge will be a quick walk.
