Both 40707 & 40755 have been moved into the shed in Eastleigh Works so may yet have a further use.

42082 was cut at Sims, Beeston after it was written off at Ladbroke Grove.

40417/425 should be under 404xx. There is also some confusion as to their disposal. I’ve seen Kilmarnock quoted, but also that they then went to RAF Spadeadam (perhaps then destroyed as target practice?!).

It wasn’t as 40206 was the buffet at Ufton Nervet. 40232 is now 40804.

Second, photos from the time (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-29755734) show the buffet being recovered (in two sections, presumably) to be taken away for accident investigation work. Every other source I have seen says it was disposed of by Sims at Beeston.

I do wish people would check their facts before posting dud gen - particularly in threads like this.

This is the most recent discussion. There was talk of the EMT "blue" Class 43s being the first to go for scrap, but it appears none of the withdrawn 43s have been sent that way yet.

The best opportunity for a dedicated thread will be once the scrapping process begins in earnest.

Indeed, the set was in reverse formation and formed of;

43029 / 44006 / 42020 / 42017 / 42022 / 42018 / 40206 / 41014 / 41013 / 43019.

Brilliant thanks. I still have a motley crew of Mk3s on my model railway. They're all PRM-compliant since the doors don't actually open as such don't think many moves will go through Stockport as Wales seem to have done away with their sets and Cross Country don't regularly operate HSTs to Manchester since the Newquay Saturday service a decade or more ago.

Correct! 40232 was converted back to 40432 and then subsequently to 40804.

I have the dates of transfer to Booths for 42131,132,133,331,& 44046 as 02/04/20 and 42306 30/03/20. 12141 & 12170 went to Sim's on 01/04/20. But I stand to be corrected.
