Hello all, a quick message to point you in the direction of a new event you might be interested in. This year we are organising a Isle Of Wight Beer and Buses event on the weekend of 18th and 19th October. It will be similar format to the Hants and Surrey RE group day and will feature a number of Bristol RE's and VR's and almost 30 real ale pubs. We are also working on discounted fares on Island Line Trains through the community rail scheme for programme holders. As you can see on the map below, the railway will be timed to link up with the free bus routes. Have a look on our website http://iwbeerandbuses.co.uk/ join us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/1438495819760017/?fref=ts or just comment below if you have any questions.

This sounds like a truly fantastic idea. :) I’ve started looking into hotels, so you can count on my patronage!

I’ve never come across an event like this before: I hope that the vintage bus service will operate late into the evening, to facilitate the maximum time span to sample the pubs around the island?

I look forward to hearing more about this event as the time draws nearer. :)

Hi Sprinterguy.

The last bus services will depart around 8pm on the Saturday but earlier at 6pm on the Sunday. The normal rail service will run during the weekend which runs until about 11pm. Buses are timed to meet trains on the route D/E at Shanklin and route C at Brading.

Quick update for those coming over to the Isle Of Wight. The programme is now available to order. If you buy online it will be with you within 6 working days so you can get planning your moves. Every one of the 30 real ale pubs served has a special offer in the programme (totalling £15 of savings including drinks deals, food deals, Southern Vectis Bus deals and even a free dessert!). 16 vehicles are scheduled to operate, mostly Bristol/ECW combinations.

Link below to buy and post any questions here :)

I'll be working on the Red Osprey (Red Funnel Southampton - East Cowes) so if you're travelling on there and see me then don't be afraid to say hello!

Glad your programme arrived quickly. As for culver down it is planned that a small vehicle such as a bristol lh will work route f to culver down with a duplicate vehicle on standby if extra capacity is needed. It went up fine on route test
