Since Avanti have taken over the service there seems to be a distinct lack of lower tier advance fares for Glasgow - Euston on a Sunday (all the way to the end of the current booking window).

Using RailEasy, services that seem to have sold maybe 6 tickets are priced at £84 for most of the day - one notable exception is the 17.38 which is currently £31 for most Sundays.

Every other day plenty of fares in the lower brackets. Fares from Euston to Glasgow on Sundays all have tickets priced at lower tiers as well.

could this be because of East Coast issues?

for most of Jan / Feb you have an hour added on the East with a couple of total closures will make it more attractive to use the West Coast for the majority of Scotland. They will know this and price accordingly.

Maybe for those weekends but every Sunday through to the end of March is the same

The trains are always especially busy on Sundays, for a variety of reasons, but there are rather fewer services on this route, and other routes run at a lower frequency. As one example, there are only four fast services from Glasgow to Birmingham (there are more services running via Newcastle).

Of course, this has always been the case really, but there is no surprise in busy trains being expensive. If you're making a round trip, is an Off Peak Return, or a Saver Half in conjunction with an Advance ticket for the other leg of your journey, not more cost-effective?

There are just nine Glasgow to London express trains on Sundays (plus the rather slower three services via Birmingham and the overnight Cal Sleeper) with the departure you mention at 1738 being the final one.
