Looking for some advice regarding a BR/M candle lamp. First purchase. Can't find how to age it? Any help appreciated?

If it is the type of lamp I think it is then watch out for replicas. There was a batch of GWR ones going around some years ago. A picture will be helpful, meanwhile here’s a webpage you may find of use. It’s of American origin but the tips in looking out for replicas is quite useful for a beginner.

BR/M suggests a 'British Railways Midland' region fitting - but British railways in general, to the best of my knowledge, had done away with candle lamps well before the formation of 'British Railways' in 1948. As in above posts, a photo would help greatly in giving advice.
