Leeds to Manchester Sunday 29th oct

NRE is showing the first train from Leeds to Manchester as being at 9:45 tomorrow.

This seems preposterously late. Is this correct ?

Looks like that's the case, whether you're travelling from Leeds to Manchester Victoria or Manchester Piccadilly. Due to overnight engineering works, presumably?

Indeed. Although strangely NRE doesn't have them down on its planned engineering work page !

Calder Valley route is shut beyond Halifax so no Northern services and Leeds - Church Fenton is also shut with TPE diverting via Castleford so nothing before 09:46 westbound. It is on NR site "https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/status-and-disruptions/?date=20231029&operatorCode=NT".

08:11 Leeds (08:23 Wakefield Westgate) to Sheffield then onto Manchester is another option if your desperate to go west earlier.

Earlier departure is possible by taking the 08:19 to Halifax, but then it's a replacement bus to Manchester Victoria, so not really worth getting up earlier for.

I do find for Sunday engineering works it's commonplace for replacement buses to depart their origin at the usual train time, rather than arrive at their destination at the usual train time. If you happen to work on Sundays, that's not helpful.
