You would think that the redundant Spen Valley track beds could prove useful in any such mass transit scheme.

How about a circular Leeds – Bradford Tram-Train route. Leeds Centre to Wellington Street, then out round the back of the Wellington Road round-house, then on fixed rail from Armley Jcn to Horsforth, then a new trams track round the back of the airport, across to High Royds, then on fixed rail to Forster Square, city centre route to Interchange and then back on fixed rail to Leeds via New Pudsey with a new bridge at Holbeck to link with the track coming off Wellington Street.
