For a while in 2012 there was a ferry at Stromferry despite the sign saying that there was not but now it's telling the truth again.

Following a landslip closing the road? Was it the same in incident that resulted in road traffic using the railway for some distance in between trains, like a giant level crossing?

I wonder whether they covered up the 'No' while the ferry was running?

There isn't much Dutch at New Holland. There are no oxen in the boggy ground at the nearby Oxmarsh Crossing* but there is a working wheel operated level crossing, a somewhat endangered species!


*There are some friendly alpacas at a nearby campsite though:D
