You’ll need the certificates or proof of grades. I’ve had trainees in with me recently that are doing this apprenticeshi, some had their certificates and those that didn’t contacted AQA I think that’s what somebody said but I’m sure a quick google will find the right people! There was a fee but don’t think it was much, £40ish maybe
Because a 20 minute zoom interview takes longer and involves pleasantries which waste time. The 6 questions are concise and to the point and make a lot of people panic, showing they’d definitely get no further.
The DMI follows for successful applicants, that’s their chance to meet you (on teams or in person) before progressing you for testing.
They seem to be perfecting efficient hiring, unlike other TOCs who can take 2 years from application to job, LNER can do 2 months or less.
Any course superseding GCSE is fine, so show your A-level Maths/English/IT. Or if you have an HNC, HND, bachelors etc. show that.
Replacement certs will take months, by which time people applying for that position will have started training.

I thought so about the Higher than GCSE qualification but in the older thread of this there were quite a few people told that they wanted to still see proof of their GCSE certificates as it was the minimum for apprenticeship or something. Id have thought higher qualifications made sense but then wouldn't they have stated if you have a degree or A levels etc. I assume they have roles they look for postgrads specifically in too. I agree you can't really do A level Maths and Physics for example without a good grade B or more in GCSE in most cases and even then if you did and came out with a good A-Level grade in maths and physics it would make sense for them to use it but idk. I won't be spending on the references (Btw once can't get the exact certificates I believe you get a backed/ proof type of copy for the grades at least from what I read on one my my board AQA) I need, AQA, Edexcel and WJEC boards so I'll probs pay for a 3 later one after I start with MTR in March.

For anyone who is stressing about certificates you can get proof of your studies and grades from your exam boards in GDPR requests to see what data they hold on you. At least one has an email address specifically for this.
It’s free, they have to do it and they have to do it quickly. Just send all the exam board emails asking for any data on you including dates, grades, subject and level. Include your school address, rough dates, proof of ID, contact details and anything else so they respond quicker. Sending to all exam boards means you don’t have to try and remember which one you did specific exams with.
This should convince any employer and buy you time should they require the full certificate later on.

Starting salary £29,429, rising as you qualify (plus a London Allowance of £3,342). Does anyone know at which stages the salary starts to increase incrementally and by how much? Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 etc? Some TOCs increase the salary after the classroom training has been complete but I don't know how LNER structure this.
Classroom training is 29k (4 months odd), handling will be something like 42k (for 6-12 months) and the moment you qualify up to full pay. So you could be full pay less than 12 months after you start.

Speaking of overtime, out of curiosity, what is the overtime pay rate? Is it basic rate? Or something like a book on a payment + basic rate? Or double time? Etc...

There currenlty is no RDW (Overtime) as ASLEF balloted to stop during the pay dispute. Im not sure what the agreement is or when it runs out but it may need to be a new agreement once this mess is sorted.
Something like that, London guys are on around £74k and the rest on around £70k, I thought just below so maybe more like £68k?
No idea. No interest in overtime dispute or not, I’m 30% sure it’s a book on payment and basic rate. My advice is never get hooked on the OT, live life off the salary and then you’ll never be buggered when disputes start!

You'll need the certificates, if you can't you'll be doing them as part of the apprenticeship.
I’m unsure if they’re even taking on those without GCSE level education now, the most recent trainees I’ve met (did their cab experience very recently) all had to have their GCSEs or better by the sounds of it. If so, they must have changed it within the last year, probably because most qualify with no intention of sitting that awful ICT course which shows you how to use a keyboard!

Indeed. My cohort had people with better qualifications in the same subject who are still having to do their Level 2 through the apprenticeship. Mental.
I had to blag it with an IT a level without an IT GCSE.

Easy to say, but we’ve just got to sit tight and they’ll let us know when they are ready

It happened only after the 3rd test was completed and passed.
When you login and select 'my application form" there's two sections.
"Additional declaration/submission" and "supporting files"
Its required in the "supporting files" section.
Ah OK. Thanks for clarifying. I'm going to have to dig around for those ancient GCSE certificates now, might take me a while!
Can't find it. Have until Thursday to upload. Replacements cost £72 and won't arrive in time smh

Hey pal! How did you know you have until Thursday? I’ve noticed there’s almost no deadlines with this application, they keep reminding me to do things, but never say by when?
Also, if you apply for a priority service it’s only 5 days (if we’re talking edexcel). I did it, and they replied within 2/3 days, and you can request that they email you your certificate, so you won’t wait for a physical copy in the post. I tried this but found out they only have my math, English is with AQA damnit

I paid for the priority service in the hope of receiving the certificate by Thursday, but I ended up uploading my HE Diploma that includes Maths and English. I received an email from LNER saying Thank you for your supporting documents, we will be in touch shortly. I'm assuming this means they will need to verify what I sent. Then I got the invite to do the video interview straight away on my account but no email this time with a deadline. Not sure whether to crack on with the video assessment before they verify my certificates.
It is strange that you were not getting any deadlines because every time I received a link it came with one.
