Was 22L on arrival at Newcastle and now 18 down by York on the return stretch. Is there any TSR's in place today (or any other disruption for that matter) or is it just through the reduced speed with the 90 working?
If it is still on 1D23 it has a smashed widescreen according to the guard on my train the 1730 from Kings Cross. 1D23 terminating a Pottars Bar
how come it is turning at Newcastle?
As far as I'm aware that wouldn't be possible. What I want to know is could you have a 90 and a 91 work in multiple![]()
Why ever not? I'm pretty sure I recall seeing some years ago a formation of DVT - Train - 91 (DIT) - 91 (Propelling), and TDM had no problem coping with a formation of DVT - Train - DVT - Loco during testing (See here http://www.traintesting.com/images/Mk3 DVTs Stafford 1989.jpg), so I see no reason why a 'dead' 91 could not act as a surrogate DVT to control a loco powering at the rear.As far as I'm aware that wouldn't be possible.
There were a few issues which caused delay to 1N08 and 1Y32 yesterday, it certainly wasn't all down to the performance characteristics of the 90.Was 22L on arrival at Newcastle and now 18 down by York on the return stretch. Yes, no problem through TDM, however current draw of both locos would be an issue.

I'm certainly nae engineer and also just speculating, but I wouldn't have thought that a 91 with pan down would do anything untoward: Remember that it was possible with the surrogate DVT/HST formations in the early days of class 91 operation to control the class 91 at the rear from the HST power car, with the engine remaining on tickover to provide train supply to the mark 3s, without the HST power car also taking power (subsequently amended so that the power car did take power simultaneously with the class 91 due to this mode of operation causing damage to the traction motors).Fair enough but I was rather under the impression that if you took power in the 'dead' 91 it would try and take power there as well as in the 'live' 91 which coudl, depending on the issue with the 'dead' 91, cause problems? I am far from an expert on TDM and its vagaries however!
