Lewisham is about to lose it's own bus station due to the redevelopment of the surrounding area.

In any case, passengers haven't been able to board from the bus station since the early 90s after the last (cock-up) redevelopment of the town centre, which has left it as a large bus stand.

A new (and I understand temporary) large bus stand off Thurston Road (just west of the railway) is under construction.

Never really sure that there is / ever was a simple answer to Lewisham - for many destinations, the current arrangements work in that you can go to the same stop for (almost) any bus towards Lee Green or Catford, whether that's a bus that's started at Lewisham or one that's come through from the New Cross / Deptford direction.

Although the stops in question (and the ones outside the new police station) aren't really up to the number of buses / passengers that use them.

Archway is much like Lewisham in providing a large area for buses to stand, but no stops for boarding - set down is on MacDonald Road (next to McDonalds!) and the first boarding stops are on Junction Road. Eventually the whole swathe of office blocks there will be knocked down and redeveloped, with some hope and persuasion TfL might put a proper bus station in!
