Correct. In both cases there's have likely been the same fire had they been diesels. Fortunately in the Putney case the fire took place nowhere near the batteries.
Not the case with the SEe. As with the MetroDeckers at PB, the cause of this fire was an engineer doing something he shouldn't have done.

Either way, it's seemed to have helped kill the Metrodecker programme which has now been completely overtaken by newer electric double deckers.

Yeah, the Potters Bar reason was established quite quickly. It's the Merton ones I've not seen anything.
It was established quickly, just not made public. Let's just say the fault lies with the manufacturer and would have had the same consequences, ie an engine compartment fire (although not a nasty battery fire).

Rubbish product anyway. And the Metrocities are no better.

So my question still remains - why is it taking so long to get the Go-Ahead Metrodeckers back in service? I'm not aware of the Metroline ones being taken out of service for so long, if at all, if there was a manufacturing defect which needed attending to.

Indeed, but with the advantage of being one of the early electric double deckers, they could have established a strong position in London and used the income and experience to improve the product.

There's a lot of work required on rebuilding part of the rear end structure, so not a quick job, but no idea why it's taking so long. Maybe Switch have just given up?

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
Out of interest, which of the super loop routes are expecting? New ADL integral electric e400s? Reports on the stagecoach North Scotland thread of super loop branded ones being tested on the a96 and I just couldn't remember which SL roots had been promised them. I think from what I recall that the SL7 is getting wrights from memory

I'm not sure the SL7 vehicle has been announced. The SL4 (Silvertown Tunnel) will be BYD.

Consultation on the SL12 has begun, proposed to run between Gants Hill and Rainham (Ferry Hill Industrial Estate). It would make prominent stops at Newbury Park, Romford, Elm Park and Rainham stations as well as Queen’s Hospital and Romford town centre.

Have your say before 23 May: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/sl12-superloop

I believe that today, (so far!) is the first day that route 358 has operated with a full fleet of Irizar ie Trams; often there has been a Streetlite, Citaro or Dart helping out. Bizarrely, there are 18 ie Trams out today; the PVR is only 17.

Attached is a screenshot of London Bus Finder, listing all ie Trams in service today ie 1 - 20, excluding 12 and 20.

ie 12, 13 and 20 are now missing in action; 18 is back in service.

Still confused why there are more buses in service than the PVR. Are there any roadworks causing delays? There's nothing on the TfL disruptions page.

The 358 has been plagued by roadworks for a while. TfL doesn't list every set of roadworks that a route might be delayed by and I wouldn't expect them to.

Three dead after bus and car catch fire in crash
Three people have died after a car and a bus were involved in a collision in west London.

Metropolitan Police officers found both vehicles alight when they were called to Bedfont Road, Feltham at 23:55 BST on Monday.
Three people who were in the car were pronounced dead at the scene while a fourth was taken to hospital.
Two passengers in the bus, an H26 service bound for Hatton Cross, were also taken to hospital but their injuries were not believed to be life threatening and others were treated by paramedics, the Met said.
It is understood that two of those killed were teenagers, one male and one female.
One person at the scene, who did not wish to be named, said the female teenager was local to the area.
Flowers have been laid at the scene.
Assistant Commissioner Paul McCourt, from London Fire Brigade, said: "The thoughts of everyone within the brigade are with the families impacted by this tragic incident.
"I'd like to thank our crews and emergency service colleagues for the determination and dedication they showed when responding to this difficult situation.
"The brigade will speak with our firefighters that attended and offer support through our counselling and trauma services where required."
The fire was put out at 01:41.
Claire Mann, Transport for London's chief operating officer, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who were tragically killed yesterday in a collision involving a bus and a car.
"This is a devastating incident and we have support available for those affected.
"Safety is our top priority and we are working urgently with the police on their investigation."
Roads in the area will remain closed while an investigation continues.
