Services between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads are diverted via the Berks & Hants and Wessex main line today due to engineering work between Didcot Parkway and Swindon, running fast between Reading and Bath Spa. I enjoyed a pleasant and peaceful journey, not stopping so often and with a change of scenery. The journey takes the curve avoiding Westbury station between Heywood Road Junction and Hawkeridge Junction.

Services are booked to take the same route on Sunday 5 February and Saturday 11 February if anyone would like to give it a go.

Definitely one for the track bashers to consider - I don't there are any booked passenger trains via this curve in the current timetable?
