This one per chance?

To me, it will always be like the similary named car - Evora, once described by Mr Clarkson as " This may sound like a ladies dress shop in Harrogate".

Thats the one, left us then went to Volvo Newbridge, having sat in the Motorcoaches depot for a while. Sat with Volvo a while, was offered to First and Stage on demonstration then offered to independents for demo, who all declined, then Covid hit and Volvo sold to Drew.

It was a Volvo demo rather than an MCV demo.

As far as im aware, this one has only been with us.

The Drew Wilson one has certainly been in Ireland, that's where the photos were taken.

Excuse my ignorance, but how can you tell they were taken in Ireland?

it wasnt used in Ireland in service, or at least not on its UK plate.

might have been used in static demonstration though.

Suspiciously low mileage too.

The vehicles in the background of the various images.

Just noticed that the linked images aren't as comprehensive as those that were on the sellers own site. In those you can see Dublin Express liveried coaches and a CIE Tours liveried Volvo 9900 which would more than likely be a Bernard Kavanagh site.
Doesn't help with the id though!

Drew Wilson also had or have the white Evora that was doing Dublin Airport car park shuttles for a while, 19-D- 37522, which the one above could very well be. I had heard it went to Edinburgh Coachlines.

I wonder if it's repairable, looks pretty contained to behind the rear axle.

I often wonder when these incidents happen, at what point does it become unfeasible to repair the vehicle?

When the costs of repair exceed the value of the repaired vehicle. The cost of repair will depend on how much needs to be replaced and how difficult it is to do; key things that will give an indication of how repairable it is will if the frame is distorted and how badly damaged the engine is. Also lots of the soft furnishing (i.e. seats) will be smoke damaged. No idea if this bus is a write off but the things in it's favour is the fact it is new(ish), costs a lot to replace (i.e. it has a high bok value) and the fire hasn't seriously taken hold.

Depends on age really, its a graph. Certain age, then they value the damage.

So say its 2 years old, if its over 60% of the book value it wouldn't get fixed.

I imagine it's still worth in excess of 200k on the books? So a good possibility of it being repaired?

got to remember though it looks like its just been burnt at the back from that one picture but underneath there could be more extensive damage

Indeed. 60% of a hypothetical 200k would be 120k though so I'd imagine that would cover alot of repair work.

I find it unlikely, rarely is anyone injured in a thermal incident like that.
I know, just mindful this is publically accessible so adding it as it wasn't qualified at the time so we didn't all seem like heartless gits fretting over fleet numbers and not human life.

This story has now appeared on Edinburgh Live:
Edinburgh Live said:
Queen Margaret University bus fire: photos show aftermath of dramatic fire that gutted Lothian bus

Pictures taken by a passerby show how a bus was ravaged by a fire near the A1 in Edinburgh this morning.
Queen Margaret University released a statement earlier warning that the A1 slip road had to close while emergency services dealt with the fire.

The shocking pictures show the parts of the bus destroyed by the fire, which left puddles of diesel on the slip road outside the university halls of residence.
Luckily no-one has been injured, and an eye-witness said the that the bus wasn't in service.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received reports of a bus on fire on the A1 slip to the Queen Margaret University around 8.45am on Monday, 5 October.

“Emergency services attended and the slip road was closed for a short time to allow for uplift of the vehicle."
In a statement, Queen Margaret University said: "WARNING - A1 slip road @QMUniversity is currently closed.
"Please be aware there has been a bus fire on the A1 this morning resulting in a diesel spillage on the slip road to QMU."
