The buses will still be based at Musselburgh, just kept at Marine overnight. Drivers will sign on at Musselburgh depot then they will get some time to make their own way to Marine to pick up the bus, with the opposite happening at night. I believe this will be similar to the arrangement for Central drivers that sign on at the depot and finish at Shandwick Place.

One thing that surprises me is quite how many stop names the new text-to-speech stop announcements on pre-2017 buses gets wrong. Even though it will give an accurate location for the bus stop, they should really make sure that what it says lines up with the actual bus stop name.
UK Government guidance says that best practice is to use the NaPTAN database of names, although this comes with its own pitfalls in certain areas (there is a street near me where 3 consecutive stops are left practically non-distinguished), so I can somewhat understand why, in certain places, Lothian chose to deviate. The relevant guidance is quoted below:
Department for Transport: Providing accessible information onboard local bus and coach services said:
Give consistent information

All audible and visible information given by bus and coach operators should be consistent with bus stop names given to passengers by other media channels, such as websites, transport apps or paper timetables.

To do this, you should use data provided in the National Public Transport Access Nodes database (NaPTAN), which is available free of charge.

The appropriate combination of data should be used from the following fields:
  • stop common name
  • town
  • suburb
  • locality centre

Before they changed the 22 to go via South Gyle Broadway in 2023, was there much demand for the 22 at South Gyle Crescent?

Office workers at peak times and royal mail staff mainly. I'd say it was busier through there than the Broadway at the time.

450 & 460 are in for a repaint at Seafield according to the map on bus times.

I've just realised that there will be no bus service to Broxburn in East Lothian after the withdrawal of the 130. Has something else been put in place?

Over quite a long period there are quite a lot of permanent bus stops being replaced by temporary bus stops.
Any particular reason for this?

No replacement that I’m aware of. Spott village and Stenton are also left without a service.

It received no tender apparently.

130 Town Centre service - Eve Coaches

The service has been cancelled due to no tender, but the 120 service will cover most of the areas previously served.

Isn’t the 44 the trial route for the re-allocation/slimming down of bus stops?

Could be to do with this.
I thought that idea from Edinburgh Council had been abandoned because it wasn't well-received by the public.

Must admit I tend to agree that some bus stops in Edinburgh are irritatingly close together. Especially if passengers can't make their way to the door for the next stop before passengers from the previous stop have taken a seat. But I suppose not every stop is observed on every journey and the number of stops needs to be balanced with user convenience.

There's a recent report suggested that a major reasons buses are slow is that they stop too often.

Agree 100%. Especially in the likes of Edinburgh where there is a stacking policy resulting in buses having to wait until they're right at the stop to load (and I'm so cases unload - I've had plenty drivers who won't open the doors to unload until they're right at the stop flag).

I think the policy needs updating and brought in line with other major cities and bus stops re-sited. There are some areas where two stops close to one another could easily be moved to the middle ground between them.

I think you're confusing two separate subjects. Locations where buses queue for access to stops already have quite wide separation between bus stops. In any case the board at flag policy is arguably more important these days.

It's stops in outlying areas where only a small number of passengers board or alight that were under review. Nowadays it takes quite a long time to bring a bus to a halt, open the doors, service the passenger(s), close the doors then rejoin the traffic. A case made against proposals to reduce the number of stops was that if stop demand was light then surely the inconvenience would only rarely occur.

Considering tomorrow is the official start date for ECB on the 120,121,123, do we have any idea what will be operating and if the E200MMC have or will be repainted / re-decaled for entry tmrw

More importantly, will they have actual love tracking?

Hopefully folk will get some snaps of the 200/400 on its last day and the 26 to Tranent, curious what the final passenger numbers are like
