So the old rule where a child who lived ouside the PTE area didn't qualify for concessionary fares, no longer applies?

On the buses yes it still applies, unless they are attending a Greater Manchester school.

Hello All,

I had a page the other day with the fares for said ticket, I know the price does vary depending on where you buy it (annoyingly), could someone look up the prices from:

  • Eccles
  • Stretford
  • The central zone (I assume this is the highest prices)

Cheers in Advance,

TP

EDIT: 1022hrs, I have phoned metrolink and it is now a blanket fare of £1.80

Yeah, they made the day saver tickets the same price anywhere during the January fare rises, so only recent.

With the greatest of respect, there is nothing here that couldn't be answered by looking at metrolinks website. Also, why the new thread. Why not just bump the old one??

That didn't used to be true - the Metrolink website only gave one fare for a day ticket but in practice it varied depending on where you bought it with the website price being a maximum.

Yes, you didn't used to be able to check fares. But you can now! So why go through the faff of a) making a new thread asking for people to research prices, or b) ringing Metrolinks customer services!! Don't mean to be harsh, but why not do a bit of research before requesting help!! From the youngsters that seem to pass through our office, this is usually their fall down - inability to think for themselves!!!!

TBH Metrolink fares are still not easy to search through, so I think your criticism is a little harsh.

If structural changes need to be done to threads, such as merging, moving from one forum to another, etc, we would appreciate it if members can just report the thread/posts in question to the staff team rather than openly criticising others for it, which isn't always a constructive way forward.

I don't buy that at all!!! You input your departure stop, input your destination stop, then choose your ticket type?!? If you cannot do that on the website, how on earth would you be able to use the tickets machines!!

It contains normal fares and season tickets but the fare finder didnt include day savers, so you couldnt compare the differing day saver prices at different stops without using the machines in person.

Fair comment, but the person who started the thread, and the other, was a concessionary. The information HE required is on the website fare finder!!

I couldn't find the information I required on the website, the fares finder doesn't list day savers - it may well be hidden there somewhere. I live out of the area, I can't just go up to a ticket machine and find out either, I like to price my journeys in advance. I created a new thread because I deemed it to be a different topic, it is perfectly acceptable to do this!

I got the info from metro link however I had posted on here prior doing this, at that point I didn't think of phoning them.

You are completely missing the point of the OP's query. How do you expect the OP to know if there were any differential in fares for different origins? Is he expected to check fares from all Metrolink stations one-by-one? I think that would take quite a long time, don't you?

Furthermore there is a host of possible reasons why the OP asked a seemingly simple question. Criticising without knowing the circumstance is subjective and unfair to say the least.

I think your criticism is better levied at those who came up with the wonderful idea of having differential fares on Metrolink yet failed to make the information accessible.

And going into a generalisation from there into the young people of today? Seriously?

Is it? Maybe you can point me in the right direction then as I don't seem to be able to find it.
