Can anyone tell me that trains from Piccadilly to Sheffield go via Stockport and hazel grove?

I have seen videos of emt and ftp going via redditch North and marple? Which has now confused me as if they go via there then has the route now changed? It still says they call at Stockport which adds to my confusion

There were diversions two weekends ago so it may be these that you are seeing?

There are a handful of trains including empty stock that go that way at certain times of day. Most do not because of the need to call at Stockport.

That's one heck of a diversion!

Ps: I know you meant Reddish North but it was too hard to resist

Northern generally go via Reddish North, except the last one towards Piccadilly Mon-Sat.

Perhaps have a look at Real Time Trains. The info would be accessible there.
RTT is a great website but it does have limitations. Quite often when a train is diverted at short notice, the new route won't be shown, just "No report" or "Not stopping" next to its original calling points, such as the example I've attached when my local stoppers were being diverted via Stockport.

Generally its possessions forcing it the other way but crews also need to keep the route knowledge so the odd diagram will be timetabled that way e.g 5M06 does which is ECS to Lime Street and a similar TPE which is worked from Sheffield and another EMT & TPE in the evening back.
Good luck getting pictures as its very odd hours :P

RTT would show the booked timings

Not that these limitations are exclusive to RTT. Perhaps one day short notice diversions won't be a problem for RTT.

RTT will only report trains at points which are in the train schedule. A short notice diversion would not be matched up to the schedule.

RTT is able to monitor reports at points not in the schedule, it just won't display them as currently it has no means of doing so - although what is currently in development might make it easier to identify a short notice diversion.

The exception being when Short Term Planning is used. It depends how they are registered and of it detects them. I have seen some very short notice services added in the past.
Engineering work will show normally.

Do any of the regular services or ECS run via Hyde for route retention purposes?

Some of the services certainly used to around 1993 when I used to visit a friend of mine in Sheffield.

I'm guessing it's sheffield crew which work it since would imagine they are the only crew except cleethorpes from tpe not to sign via standedge.

I'm sure some Sheffield crew do sign Manchester to Huddersfield? By contrast I can't imagine Carlisle or Scottish crews doing so!
