I have done this route several times in the past couple of years but not by Megabus. I have done Manchester to Calella (just north of Barcelona) by Coach using a company called Ferris. It is cheap but I find it takes too long.
I have also done it twice by rail using the Paris to Perpignan night train and the Eurostar. This way is great but involves far too much time waiting at stations because of the connections. Ironically of all the trains I caught in my ten day holiday, only one was late and that was the Virgin London to Manchester to service, although it was only 10 minutes late by the time it arrived.
I am thinking the Megabus to Barcelona could be a great way of doing it, but I would get the Eurostar to Paris, and catch the coach from there. The lack of comfort stops is concerning though. Ferris allow you to get of the coach every 3 hours with a proper stop every 6 hours or so.
Siesta of course still do the trip, it is more expensive than Ferris and they use the tunnel rather than Ferry. I love the ferry as it is a good proper break especially on the way there.
