For those reasons and because of the relatively poor performance of the nearby East Midlands Parkway I think it's unlikely Syston would get anything more than the minimum to accommodate layout changes.

That comparison seems a shame if anyone in the industry were to make it. East Midlands Parkway is very obviously in a spot that's basically useless, other than as a park-and-ride. Syston on the other hand, so far as I can tell from Google Maps, appears to be surrounded by populated areas, and with some forward thinking ought to have the potential to be an important part of a small metro network around Leicester. But that's perhaps a bit off-topic for this thread.

I agree with that. As a parkway for the suburbs west of Nottingham, East Midlands Parkway has appalling access. From the centre of Long Eaton for example, just under 4km direct turns into over 12km by road because of the lack of bridge routes across the Trent. Not a viable drop off point for a kiss and ride drop from this area unless your friend or partner happens to work in the same direction. Kegworth old station would have been a better local site imho. For the Nottingham area, Toton should be much much better in this respect. As for Syston I think that could be rather more successful. Perhaps it could move a quarter mile north or so to the junction triangle area for easier improvements to road access, while still being within reasonable walking distance of nearly housing.
