Planning a trip to the region on the 1st November, does anyone know if there's more 777s than 507/8's in service now or is it still less? Also which 508 numbers are still in traffic? Thanks
Depends which part of the area you are looking at. Southport 100% 507/508. Ormskirk/Kirkby 100% 777. Wirral probably about 70% 507/508. Don't know about 508 numbers

Still three 507/8s on the Chester line today: 507030, 508131 and 508139. The other four were 777005/009/018/049.

I was over on Merseyside for a few days from Saturday until Tuesday, travelled on the Wirral line every day and the only 777 I saw was 003 going to Rock Ferry on the Saturday evening.

Apologies my mistake in an earlier post! There's 4 booked 777 diagrams on the Chester line with the remaining 3 diagrams 507/8s.

2 booked 777 diagrams on Ellesmere Port and 1 morning diagram on New Brightons with an afternoon one on West Kirbys. The New Brighton/West Kirby one has however been running as a 507/8.

Sundays should see 2 out of 3 diagrams on the Chester line 777s with one on Ellesmere Ports.

The unit working the penultimate Southport - Hunts Cross service last night (2U69) failed and apparently came to a halt blocking Hunts Cross West Junction, causing issues for the "main line" services too with the final Northern services through Hunts Cross cancelled or terminated short, and a London Northwestern train to Crewe also delayed, seemingly because it was stuck behind a Northern unit at South Parkway which couldn't continue.

Anyone know which unit disgraced itself?

Believe it was 507004 (according to the delay report I was shown this morning)

Has anybody else noticed that cleanliness of the floors on the 507/8s have been neglected? Grime is building up under seats and in corners, with very light mopping down the middle and in seat bay areas. I rode 777009 on Thursday to Chester and the floor on that looks dreadful too. Rode on some Northern 319s later in the day to St Helens and they are looking spotless and themselves are being disposed in a matter of weeks!

508139 and 508141 formed today's 508 farewell tour and what a brilliant day out it was too. The remaining 508s were all about with four in service: 508103 (West Kirby line), 508108 (Southport line), 508114 (also Southport) and 508131 (New Brighton line). 508104 and 508136 were stabled at Southport and 508120 stabled at Kirkdale.

At West Kirby, 'Royal Special' units 507001 and 002 were side-by-side and pulled quite a crowd for photos. The 1st November marks 45 years of service for the Class 507 so this was a nice bonus to the day.

It really hit home today that time is running out for these units. They're definitely going to be missed!

I take it that will be 139/141's last day in traffic then?

The farewell tour was superb yesterday. BLS and Merseyrail did the units proud with lots of wrong road running, rare crossovers, sidings & depots and of course the interchange for those who like to bash tracks!

Great atmosphere on board throughout and just a great way to honour these great machines - and thankfully we weren't held up anywhere by broken down 777s ;) :D

Do you know what time the 507/508 diagram departs Chester on Sundays?

0900, 1030, 1200, 1330, 1500, 1630, 1800, 1930, 2100, 2230 for the next couple of Sundays.

Be aware though there's more 777 diagrams going on the Chester/Ellesmere Port lines from mid November.

A great day yesterday on the 5:08 sunset tour. Also a lot out taking pictures and videos along the route which was great to see, such a great end to the day at Chester as well with the ECS departure, the units certainly didn't depart quietly

508139 & 508141 are both out working on the West Kirby line today.

Will this mean the regular end of 50X on Chester and Ellesmere Port? As there is only 3 diagrams in the week?

A Class 507 farewell tour is being planned for next year, we don't have a confirmed date yet but we'll announce it on the Mersey Railways 2.0 Facebook group when the date is confirmed.

Today, 507001 is on the Southport line where it started its public passenger carrying career 45 years ago. Worked the 0836 Hunts Cross-Southport this morning.

Thank you for the report which has allowed me to catch it with a minimal wait. 001's still in excellent fettle and good to see it on the line where it all began on the anniversary.
