Hello,

Couldn't find a thread but thanks to another forum the following have arrived in full Merseytravel Metrolivery

YY74 LVK (2752) to Arriva Birkenhead

Not sure how many are due, there are photos around social media that look like there standard Arriva interior ( would have thought they be Merseymetro interior similar to bee network)

Not sure how many are due however

I presume these will move to St Helens for Trance 1 of the franchising?

Unless Merseytravel have changed plans or are doing it completely different to other franchised networks (such as bee network for example)

As far as I'm aware there are quite a few due (40?) and they're generally to replace aging Pulsars at all depots bar Bootle. They're getting 71 plate Evoras from Luton to go with the 9 they have already. The buses are in Metro livery just to save having to repaint them over the next few years.

Ah right that explains what's going on so in affect it's nothing to do with the franchising, there just using Metro livery early

46 of these E200MMC's to be delivered, 16 for Birkenhead, 10 for Green Lane, 6 for Speke, 8 for Runcorn and 6 for Southport. Several new Evora's are due for Bootle early next year plus some of the Luton '71' plates are to transfer to Bootle as well. I believe Stagecoach at Gillmoss are to start repainting vehicles into the 'Metro' livery soon (info from an staff memo passed to me a while back), and the 58 E400EV due for there will also be delivered in that livery. The purchase of a further 50 electric buses has also been approved, operator unknown at the moment https://www.liverpoolcityregion-ca....r-announces-major-expansion-of-electric-fleet

Can someone send a photo or a link, I can't find any. Also just to clarify, YY74 LVK HAS arrived at Birkenhead and others are due?

It was posted on another forum (dartslf.com/forum) by a member on there but it is or was also posted on a Facebook group for Arriva NW or Merseyside but not sure which

Is there any particular reason why Bootle is the only Arriva North West depot which gets MCV Evoras?

It's likely because they already have a batch so makes sence to keep the Luton ones at Bootle save type training etc

From what I heard, St. Helens will NOT be receiving the 74 plate E200MMCs but however, I did hear that St. Helens are due for a batch of 17 plate E200MMCs from Luton not sure how many exactly but it will be to replace the 09 plate Pulsar 2s that are at their age limit

Luton will have no buses left at this rate!

Luton is reportedly due a large batch of Volvo B8RLE/MCV eVoRa (last I heard it was around 30) to oust the older MCVs and some E200 MMC to the North West.

... in particular because they are (or until the delivery of 2752 mentioned in post #13, were) the only vehicles in the fleet with rear-facing cameras rather than outside mirrors. Laird Street drivers are imminently to be type trained on these MMCs, followed by other depots as and when their deliveries occur.

Interestingly, the Luton ones appear to have standard mirrors (looking on Flickr etc). I suppose driver familiarity, engineering etc are all set up for them now so will involve no extra training. Be interesting to see if they retrofit the mirrors... was told the camera units are £900ish each; add in monitors, wiring etc and I doubt it

Most of the Arriva ones for Birkenhead (2750-2765) are now delivered, with three being used at other depots for type training, three of the Green Lane ones are also delivered as of today (which should be 2766 upwards) and I managed to catch 2769 being delivered this morning https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/54139580638/in/dateposted/

While I agree it makes sense for Bootle to get more MCV Evoras, as that depot already has some, what I was asking was: is there any particular reason why only Bootle gets them? I'm really not sure why and slightly bemused that Arriva has decided to have Evoras at only one North West depot, with the rest having Enviro200s.

Easier in terms of minimising spares, fewer types to do driver familiarisation, fewer types for fitters to be knowledgeable about?

We're also the only depot with E400MMCs. When you have a small fleet, as others have said, it means fewer spare parts kept for one depot, less driver / fitter training etc etc. We got the first 9 Evoras to upgrade a couple of our routes as they were what was available at the time.

The other Evoras in the batch went to Arriva Buses, Wales at Bangor.

I think the E400 MMCs were for the 55, but they now go on most routes Bootle operate, quite a strange purchase when Arriva had switched to Wright deckers

74 plate E200 MMC’s are out today on 487 and 423 in Wirral. Tracking on Bustimes.

Anyone got a pic of the interior of these ^ I read somewhere they were standard Arriva interior

Having been on one earlier this evening, I can confirm they're Arriva inside. Also, the rear of the bus has an Arriva logo/marking on it.

I wonder if any of the new buses delivered to Runcorn will be allocated on the X4

According to this article in the St Helens Star, that is the plan.

(Quote from that article)

"MORE than 50 new Arriva buses are set to hit Merseyside's roads.

Arriva has invested £14 million in the new vehicles, which will aim to provide a range of benefits to passengers.

...

Councillor Steve Foulkes, chair of the transport committee at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, said: "It’s great to see these brand-new vehicles which will soon be operating on routes across our city region, including on the new X4 express bus service linking Runcorn and Widnes with Liverpool city centre."

I had thought so as then it would make sense instead of getting older vehicles to do the route.

I find it funny how St. Helens is the first area in the Liverpool City Region to come under the franchising but other areas like Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley and Halton are getting brand new E200MMCs while it has been said that St. Helens will get the 17 plate E200MMCs from Luton

Due to franchise contract constraints, Arriva are not bidding for St Helens franchise, so not putting their new buses in there

Wirral is expected to be done at the same or similar time as St Helens
