Just watched the film 'Money Train' on BBC1, albeit I do have it on dvd as well, just nowt else on tv at time. Anyways, what I wanted to know was this: Is this 'Money Train' a reality, I mean, is there such a train whereas it calls at stations on the NYC Subway system collecting takings & tokens. Also, does this sort of thing happen elsewhere on subway systems throught the world?

It's a safe bet that anyone who actually knows about any that may (or may not) run is probably not in a position to divulge the information.

Actually the New York Subway did use special subway cars to collect the cash or tokens from stations. Not sure whether this still happens.

Click on the link below for Revenue cars and you will see the cars.

I am not sure whether they still in service - at least one car is in the Subway Museum.

There is no use of a 'money train' in Melbourne, and as far as I know anywhere else in Australia. Although there used to be suburban 'parcel' trains in Melbourne, but whether it transported money for the railway I do not know.

I saw several of these yellow subway cars zooming about when I was in NY in 2005, however they never seemed to stop anywhere, so I'm not sure if they were the money trains or not
