National Express Group today outlines its vision to become the UK’s most sustainable bus and coach company.

National Express Group today announces:

  • We will not buy another diesel bus for our UK operations;
  • We will lead the transition to zero emission coaches, with a target for the first electric coaches to be in service next year;
  • An ambition that our UK bus and UK coach fleets will be fully zero emission from 2030 and 2035 respectively;
[...]

Of course "an ambition" is different to a promise, but it's impressive.

They haven't said all electric. I wonder if we will see hydrogen or CNG? They also seem to be differentiating bus to coach.

They do need something to differentiate from the coming onslaught of Flix. This might just be it.

Very expensive, and when then electric batteries are fooked after 8 years they'll be paying something like £20k each for a replacement one.. Diesel is the way to go atm.
